    Trade Advice - Turco...

seeing what some of you fine folks think about this......

    Been offered
    Semyon Varlamov
    Vincent Lecavalier
    Marty Turco

Now I’m of the belief that I need center help, he’s stocked at centres with:
    C Evgeni Malkin (Pit - C)
    C Vincent Lecavalier (TB - C)
LW Patrick Marleau (SJ - C,LW)
BN Brad Richards (Dal - C)
BN Paul Stastny (Col - C)

    Now here’s my team:

    C Bobby Ryan (Anh - C,LW)
    C Travis Zajac (NJ - C)
LW James Neal (Dal - LW)
LW Simon Gagne (TB - LW) IR
RW Patrick Kane (Chi - RW)
RW Chris Stewart (Col - RW)
    D Dan Boyle (SJ - D)
    D Keith Yandle (Pho - D)
    D Alexander Edler (Van - D)
    D Paul Martin (Pit - D)
    G Roberto Luongo (Van - G)
    G Marty Turco (Chi - G)
BN Matt Duchene (Col - C)
BN Antoine Vermette (Cls - C)
BN David Backes (StL - RW)
BN Steve Mason (Cls - G)

Think I should take the trade or think I might be able to snag Malkin if I throw in Kane (maybe someone else as well)?????

    Thought’s, please and thanks

    • Unless he is an idiot he will not throw in Malkin for Kane. Kane has ben demoted to the third line, is a minus player, and being overshadowed by Patrick Sharpe this year. Malkin is going to have a bounce back season. Take Vinny and Varlamov. Vinny will most likely improve his point total of last year, and he is playing for Tampa who will do amazing this year. Varlamov is almost full health and will get some time in net.

    • hmm-- this is an interesting one. I assume you are aware that Varlamov is hurt again ( I didn't see the details but the fact that he is out so quickly afetr coming back is troubling)

So in some ways for immediate production this is a straight Vinny for Marty trade. If your goalies were doing well I might say pull the trigger but with both Mason and Luongo having their struggles it does give me pause. Are their any good golaies on the FA wire to assist if Varlamov is on the IR for a while?

      • Ya, last season i played the whole time with only 2 goalies and although i did well, i'd like to avoid that headache again.... Good goalies on the FA list are few and far, but a couple of serviceable ones:

        Ondrej Pavelec
        Jonas Gustavsson
        Mathieu Garon
        Dwayne Roloson
        Jonathan Bernier
        Nikolai Khabibulin

Maybe roll the dice on Pavelec....

    • If you did this you would leave yourself very thin with goaltenders since if Neuvirth does good Varly good be a back up, or get injured again.
      I wouldn't do it
