  • Help me drop Osgood!

As a Wings fan I can not bring myself to dump Ozzie, but know it might be the right thing to do. The Wings are a great team and even if he does not play as much as Howard, he should do well when he does play. Then last night he gets lit up (albeit they were all good goals).

Available in the FA pool is Giguere, Elliott & Bernier.

I imagine my best bet is to go with Giguere and if this was not a roto league I would do it in a heartbeat. In roto it is not quantity, but rather quality. I would rather have two goalies that play less games, but give me a better 50-60 games played than a starter that may not have the same quality 50-60 games. What do you think? Thanks.

If either are available, you simply have to go ahead and do it. No ifs, ands or buts. They're starters (presumably, in the case of Elliott), Ozzy's not.

Honestly, the slap across the face for toronto is that they can't score goals. Where they're set up though is on defence, and so even the shots that are getting through have mostly been stoppable. Giguere is in a contract season, and so far he has looked really good. I think he's a great mix of quanitity and quality. Elliot certainly shouldn't be in the mix at all, Ottawa has just looked terrible. Bernier you will get quality from, but I don't think this is the year he takes Quick's job, so you will suffer in the Wins colum of the roto league.

I'm very high on Bernier, he should play 25+ games and get you excellent numbers considering the team that's playing in front of him. Plus many Kings are already predicting him to finish the season as their number 1 starter.

Have you seen Quick this year (and the two years past?) Quick is loaded with talent and only getting better with experience. Not only is Quick improving, the Kings are much better than two years ago. I could see the Kings make a strong run in the playoffs. I think Quick will be rested a bit more than the 70+ starts last year, but I doubt he will miss a start aside from B2B games.

Hey, I always liked Osgood too, and always felt that he got a bad rep (i.e. people thinking that Detroit won despite having him in net, as opposed to viewing him as an important part of the team).

In fantasy hockey though, loyalties need to go out the window. It can be a painful realization!
