Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
The way i look at Ovi, Crosby Malkin and Parise is this - If you trade them you should get back another PRIME position player and then some.
The problem here is that you didnt get back a PRIME position player. You got back what i would call top 2nd tier scorers.
Savard is a great setup man but he;s having a bad year because he doesnt really have that much to setup. Its unfortunate but true, Bostons scoring this year has SUCKED. So you got a great setup guy with no one to setup.
Elias is nice but injury prone, there always seems to be something up. Ya he's good that he can put up 60pts in 55 games but again its only 55 games you have him for and you dont know when he maybe be back so you're stuck holding him half the time. He's a bit like Gabbo in that respect.
Hossa is a nice RW but lost a bit in depth in chicago. You have to remember they are DEEP at RW. You know he's going to be behind Kane and he has Versteeg and Buffy behind him on the right side who ARE going to get their minutes like it or not and that hurts him.
The type of guys you should be getting back if you trade one of the big 3 or 4 are at lesat:
C: Crosby, Malkin, Getzlaf, H. Sedin, Thornton
RW: Perry, Iginla, Gaborik (if you want to gamble on him staying healthy, Kane, Semin
LW: Parise, Heatley, Marleau, Kovalchuk
D: Markov, Green
G: Nabokov, Kipprusoff, Brodeur
You should almost ALWAYS get at least one of those guys back, there are obviously some exceptions that i didnt include for sake of keeping it somewhat brief but frankly i think you lowballed yourself a bit here man :(
bwahaha, really, traded arguably the best player for that, even if savard didn't get injured tonight, he has been playing so bad this year, hossa has been playing alright and same with elias, but really u traded ovi and didn't get one top center in return, or one top lw, u got screwed big time
dude horrible trade, you could get so much more for ovie
and to add insult to injury, savard left tonight's game with a left leg injury, the same leg which kept him out for 15 games earlier this season
i would have asked for a lot more
i like this trade. unless its less than 10 teams i always go for depth.
in my 12 team keeper league i traded crosby...yes crosby in a keeper league for jeff carter and patrik kane. so far its working out for me.

I have 2 star tenders, kipper and luongo.
I understand everyones points but lets say elias replaces Ovie. Gets about half the points, which is a fair assesment. Savard will replace clowes production and then some, Savard can make up for the half that elias wont. Even if they don't equal a full ovechkin. Hossa will triple , dan sexton who I will be dropping to make room.
