Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
M. Hossa just got dropped in my league... (I dont have a clue why...) I just got Iginla for my Kovalchuk. I'm no.3 waiver and the no.1&2 waiver dont seem like active managers.
So now my team would be:
C: H. Sedin, Zajac, Briere (RW)
LW:Heatley, Morrow, Ryan (RW)
RW: Iginla, Hossa, Bourque (LW), Brown
D: Gonchar, Kaberle, E. Johnson, Ehrhoff
G: Luongo, Miller, Howard
In all that bunch who do I drop for Hossa?
Do I let Hossa go through and stay put?
I need to let one go if I want to place Hossa on my team...

Well, if you get anyone (Brown, Howard) tied up in a trade, you won't be able to drop them for Hossa, who is the guy you should be going after in the first place. Since Hossa is already on waivers, the trade time would take longer.

I'd keep Briere and Brown. Briere has been out a lot this season, but is scoring well when he is on the ice. Brown is usually the hardest working player on the ice, takes a lot of shots, and gets decent pims. Howard wont see many starts with your other 2 goalies, so he's a good canidate for dropping as well. I really think Borque is your best option for drop.
If you're down to those 3, here's how I break it down:
Briere - Despite the injury risk with him, he's more naturally talented than Brown and has an 80 Pt. upside, should get more PIMs than Brown, should see time on more talented lines, and has dual position eligibility.
Brown - Tough, durable player, and a more physically stable option than Briere, although his upside is only about 60 points.
Howard - Even though he's taken over the #1 job in DET, he's a young goaltender on a former dynasty team in desperate need of a rebuild. Times could get tough for him this season, and you already have very solid goaltending options in Luongo and Miller. Although I like to carry 3 goalies, with your two starters, he is expendable.
I would drop Howard for him for now. You have two goalies who are not only clear number ones on their team but they are two of the best in the league. I know Luongo doesn't look like the best right now but he is definitely good enough to ride a two goalie system with for now.
All of your other forwards are consistent players and will at least be a significant help in one category so I wouldn't want to drop any of them right now.
Your team looks pretty well rounded
And ya I have no clue why someone would drop Hossa. I think he has had one game where he didn't pick up a point

OK 1 question for you though....
How will the return of Gagne will affect Briere's play unless they change the lines around...?
Gagne/Richards/Hartnell (plays LW or RW)
Wow. First of all, I can't believe someone dropped him. Secondly, nice team. Makes for a pretty tough call. If you do it (which I think you have to, don't you? I mean it's HOSSA!), I also think it's gotta be Briere.
