    Should I drop Steve Mason?

Should I Drop Steve Mason and get a non-starting goalie or should I just keep him on the bench? I got Broduer, Hiller, Price and Mason.

    • I preface this by saying I dropped him last week in a private league. I'm in a bit of a different situation as my league only uses 1 starting goalie, so there were/are starting goalies available in FA. I was able to get Vokoun in FA.

If all that is available are strictly backups, I would hold onto him. If there are platoon goalies available (Roloson, Biron, Smith, Niitymaki, even Howard to an extent is platooning with Osgood) then it's worth considering. I still have Mason in the public league I'm in, just because there's really no one else available.

    • After last night, and the game like 2 weeks ago, I had to drop him. I had Brodeur, Hiller and Mason, but with both Hiller and Mason doing terrible I decided to pick up Niemi. At least my GAA and S% should improve...hopefully.

    • This is a popular problem. Ive got him Luongo and Lundquist, and Im staying put. Just sit him for a while, he will do better. When he does, reevaluate you goalies and than I would trade someone. You have a solid goalie corp, and I think 3 solid goalies are plenty.

    • i suggest you try trading him instead of dropping him. It looks like you have solid goalies, you really dont need mason. Try to trade him and take anything you can get, its not worth dropping him.
