You didn't steal anything... the guy gave up on the league and is giving away his players for anything. He's actually sabotaging it.
If I were you, I'd ask the commissioner to lock his team and undo the trades. If you feel good about winning a league like that, then go ahead with what you were doing and keep proposing him trades.
