Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Well he is on fire because everyone else in LA is on fire too. Do you guys think he will continue? if so which D-man do you think I should drop. Don't be stupid and say "oh you should drop Lidstrom I wish I was in your league derrrrr derrrr." Ok sound good?
Nicklas Lidstrom - (Det - D)
Mark Streit - (NYI - D)
Kyle Quincey - (Col - D)
Alex Goligoski - (Pit - D)
I'm not sure it's worth it in the long run. You have 4 solid D already, and as you mentioned Doughty is hot but will cool down (as will the entire Kings team). Do you realistically expect over 50 pts for him this year? Might happen but that's a big jump from last year (27pts last season). I believe something in the mid-40s is more realistic. That means he'll score around 35 or so the rest of the way. Too low? Matter of opinion.
Doughty is solid but I'm not convinced that he'll definitely be better than any of your current D, with maybe the exception of Quincey. However, you mentioned keeping him and I don't blame you - with Liles out he's the #1 guy.
Also, the problem with trading one of them for a forward and then picking up Doughty is, by the time that happens, Doughty could be picked up already. And then you're screwed.
Lidstrom is still your number 1.
Streit is still your number 2 (regardless of the team - he had over 50 pts and was plus for them last year
I don't see much difference between Quincey, Goligoski and Doughty in the long haul, so I would just let somoene else get him. Unless you have a mediocre bench forward whom you could drop first. And then, if you want, try to trade someone (when their value is high, of course).
