Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
My draft is coming up on Thursday. I am the first overall pick. Are there any sleeper picks that you guys have that could be avialable in the later rounds? Who would you recommend looking at and why? Any input would be helpful, thanks.
Yahoo really botched the ranks this year, so theres a lot of 'undervalued' guys. Thorton, Heatly, Brodeur, Luango and Alfredson are all big name guys that have pretty low O ranks. Also, Stastny, Tim Connelly, Giroux, GONCHAR, Briere, Brad Richards, Morrow, Visnovsky are all guys yahoo forgot about when making their preseason ranks.
some of these are not exactly sleepers, but they are ranked low and in a draft with newbies you can probably get them relatively late:
- richards (brad)
- whitney (ryan)

Gonchar is rated low. Connolly is rated low despite being a point per game guy (just risky cause of injury). Erik Johnson is way at the bottom because he didn't play last here, but he'd be a decent late pick for a D-man. Justin Williams is healthy again, and LA has much better forwards this year. Pascal Leclaire could be a good late pick for a 3rd string goalie.
Leino, likely to take a spot on one of Dets top two lines.
C.Giroux, RW, 27 pts in 42 games last year and also a possibility to crack the top two lines in PHI.
Brassard, C, CBJ, likely to center Nash.
Stastny, COL, 1 pt/gm player largely overlooked because of injury.
B. Little, RW, likely to play on Kovalchuk's line.
Briere. pos. RW elig. drops because of injury.
Filatov, a sniper, if he can crack the top lines.
