    Urgent!! Need help for draft

    16 team H2H keeper league. 6 skater and 4 goalie scoring categories. Roster includes 3 C, 3 RW, 3 LW, 6 D and 1 G.

I am picking at #20 (2nd round) and won't get another pick until #44. Almost all the best goalies already taken. Luongo, Lundqvist, Kipper, Fleury, Ward, Mason and Nabakov are all gone.

I'm thinking of taking a goalie. Should I? Who should it be?

    Price, Backstrom, Miller, anyone else?

Will Price benfit from Martin's coaching style? Will backstrom be hurt by Lemaire's departure? Price is younger?

    Please help!!

    Thanks

    • I'm interested in finding out what happened, who did you go with?

    • I agree with the above. Backstrom will give a better save %, low GA, even with the change of coaching. The D would have to be totally ineffective for Backstrom's numbers to falter beyond the mainstream average level.

      • Thanks guys.

It was a very tough decision, but I ended up taking Carey Price. The main reason was that this is a dynasty keeper league and Price has 9 years on Backstrom, so if Price reaches his expected potential, I would have him for a lot longer.

Backstrom is definitely the guy for right now, but I was thinking longer term.

I definitely debated the decision back and forth a lot, but ultimately the age factor and the hope that Jacques Martin's defensive coaching style might help his stats influenced my decision to choose Price.

Time will tell if it was the right choice. It was definitly a tough one.

        Thanks again.

    • First off, if your pool counts points for goalies in 4 categories, you need yourself a big time keeper. No doubt you get points for wins and shutouts, what other categories, cause that could affect your choice.

I find it hard to believe Backstrom isn't gone yet, he'd be my first out of the 3 you mentioned. His wins and shutouts alone are going to be top 4 or 5 as per usual. Miller would be my 2nd choice. But you never mentioned Brodeur, is he still up for grabs? Strange how he's fallen back so much.

Remember there are some guys that could be looked at as sleepers when it comes to keepers. But, don't wait too long. Everyones going to want a #1 in there roster. Keep your eye on Pekka Rinne, Anderson, Vokoun, Mason (or Conklin) from the Blues and Khabibulin. You just want someone who's going to play the bulk load of games.
