"Taking the advice of Lon F does make much more sense then MacDaddy. He at least rationalizes the advice he gives instead of just stating which players to take or side." - blah blah blah

      • you're weak at C and your LW (doan excluded) are slightly overrated (aka sell-high candidates). you've also got too much depth at RW.

as a result, i would shop selanne, kessel, clowe, kopitar and langkow to find yourself a bona fide top notch C and LW.

aside from these guys, your team is pretty tight. you might consider shopping/packaging kipper to get nabby or lundqvist since calgary/kipper are too inconsistent for my taste.

    • I like your feedback so I am ready to hear about this situation.
Sorry this is a spin off of my other one but I wanted to be more detailed.
Ok there is a guy in my league that has the following players and he wants to try and make me a trade for Bryzglov or Ersberg. Give me your thoughts who to target. Keep in mind I can package in players like Kopitar, Antropov, Ray Whitney, Eriksson, Booth, or Little into a trade.

      Mike Richards
      Stephen Weiss
      Tomas Plekanec
      Patrik Elias
      Jussi Jokinen
      Slava Kozlov
      Bill Guerin
      Jason Pominville
      Pierre-Marc Bouchard
      Saku Koivu
      Jason Spezza
      Henrik Sedin
      Alex Goligoski
      Stephane Robidas
      Kimmo Timonen
      Joe Corvo
      Mike Modano
      Mark Recchi
      Brian Campbell
      Jose Theodore
      Joey MacDonald
      Pascal Leclaire

      • in all honesty, his team blows. the only guys i'd be interested on that squad are mike richards, brian campbell and spezza (who is a great buy-low candidate).

as for the rest of the players, that all depends on how much depth you have at G. bryz is about to reclaim the #1 spot in phoenix and his value is going up as we speak. ersberg plays for LA - enough said. if you have the depth at G and can afford to lose these guys (i'd ditch ersberg personally), then go for it.

decent 2nd tier players you could benefit from (if you have holes in these areas): elias (most catagories), sedin (assists) and goligoski (pts 4 D).

    • LonF will be back at 5pm PST. thanks for coming out.

    • there's a lot of other players out there i'd rather have on my team other than corvo.

    • that's what i said.

but if there's others on the waiver wire that could help you, then i'd drop cheechoo too.

    • True, but when I dropped him he was DTD about once a week and wasn't producing. Additionally, the move to forward did little to increase his production except for a few assists and a goal recently. I agree with what you said about Zubov though and have since dropped him for Kyle Quincey. So you think I should hang on to Corvo or let him go too?

    • won't hurt to have briere taking up your IR spot.

as for the others, right now i think roy has the best upside. he's turning the corner on a slow start and once buffalo starts clicking again he could explode (like he did last year).

    • I am in last place in an 8 team H2H league. (i did lose both gonchar and morrow, dropped them for whitney and versteeg)

C: H. Sedin, Ribeiro, Pavelski, Toews
      LW: Ovechkin, Tanguay, Versteeg, Demitra
      RW: Doan, Dumont, Sykora
      D: Phanuef, Vishnovsky, Wideman, Kuba
      G: N. Backstrom, Auld, Vokoun
      IR: Whitney

      FA i am considering:
      C: Arnott, S. Koivu, Krejci
      LW: S. Kozlov, Lucic, Hagman
      RW: Erat, Hudler, Knuble
      D: Zidlicky, Suter, M.A. Bergeron
      G: Anderson, Smith, Khabibulin

I am already thinking that I should drop Ribeiro for arnott and vokoun for khabibulin.

considering trading phaneuf, although his trade value is probably at the lowest it will ever be, and also considering putting ovechkin in a package deal for lundqvist.

      recommendations or thoughts?

      • there's good talent on the FA list.

i'd dump sykora and pick up a hot hand like arnott or if you need PIMS i'd pick up lucic who is now the top banger with avery out.

obviously vokoun is losing ground on anderson in net but there's no guarantee anderson will stay in net if he falters. anderson might help you short term.

your team is decent so i'm surprised you're in last place, aside from the fact that some of your players haven't performed as well as expected. but considering its an 8 team league, i am a bit surprised you don't have more top 10 players on your team.

i'd try packaging guys like ribeiro, pavelski, and demitra for an upgrade at C. you don't have a stud C and that could be one of the reasons you're hurting. i'd go after lecalavier or staal who aren't putting up huge numbers (yet) and because of this, their value is somewhat diminished.

also, consider picking up justin williams if he's on the FA list. he's potentially a point per game player that people have forgotten about.

    • BACK in effect and answering the questions macdaddy doesn't have the skills to address

    • Keeper league, 5 goalies cats, 5 offensive cats....

Trade is this, I give, Hossa and Auld

      For Nabokov and Moreau

      This a good trade?
I realize that Nabokov is 33 but I feel he still has some good years left in him. And Auld is hot now but has never proven to be a number 1.

      So what you think?

      Thanks :)

      • the trade basically boils down to hossa for nabokov. in this light, it's an even trade and your decision should be based upon your needs. if you need a goalie, go for nabby. if you need scoring, keep hossa.

auld has been nothing short of amazing so far and i've always believed this guy had the skills to be a starter. i saw him play a lot when i used to live and vancouver and he filled in for the oft injured cloutier. BUT ottawa (like philly) is finicky with goalies and there's a good chance they'll make a trade for a #1. if so, auld gets shoved back to the backup position and his value plummets.

so with that said, i see auld as a good sell high candidate. i would recommend though, that you wait another week or two before moving him since ottawa seems to be playing better and should rack up a few wins for him.

i don't consider moreau to be a fantasy option considering how many other LW are around that do so much more...unless of course you need the PIMS.

so would i trade hossa and auld for nabby and moreau? no.

you can get a lot more than moreau is basically what i'm saying.
