Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
12 team keeper league....
Centers - Malkin, Jokinen, Cogliano
Left Wing - Morrow, Michalek, Cammalleri, Hartnell, Brunnstrom
Right Wing - Hossa, Perry, Hemsky
Defense - Phaneuf, Green, Seabrook, Hainsey,
IR - McCabe, Whitney
Goalies - Miller, Bryzgalov, Garon, Gerber
So, I realize I've already got five friggin' left wingers. It'd be nice if Yahoo'd get off their keesters (did I spell that correctly?) and give Michalek and Hartnell their LW/RW eligibility. But, Daniel Carcillo is available on the free agent list. Should I drop Martin Gerber, who I consider to be a total @#$%-stain and get Carcillo?
I think I've done pretty damn good with this team, especially considering it's a keeper league and the only two guys on my team over 30 years of age are McCabe and Gerber. I just wish I could get somebody in this friggin' league to trade with me. I've been trying to two weeks now to work a deal for Lundqvist, Luongo or Nabokov and I can't get anything done. So, after that I started trying to go for defensemen: Boyle and Visnovsky and I can't get either of them. So, now what do I try and do?
And what do I do when Whitney and McCabe come off the IR? Obviously I'm gonna' drop Hainsey, but who do I drop after that?
Some of the trades that I've proposed and had rejected....
Morrow, Seabrook and Gerber for Nabokov
Morrow and Hainsey for Chara
Hemsky, Michalek, McCabe and Gerber for Kane, Suter and Bernier
Michalek, Seabrook, and Gerber for Campbell
Miller for Brodeur
Michalek, Seabrook and Gerber for Aucoin and Giguere
Michalek, Hemsky, Seabrook and Gerber for A. Kostitsyn, J. Williams and Lundqvist
Michalek, Seabrook, Garon and Gerber for Filatov and Lundqvist
One reply that I got - When your D gets healthy I would just drop a LW to make room... what the market value of Brunnstrom and Hartnell will be when that happens is still up in the air. If you're looking to just move D though, Seabrook is easily replaceable. I honestly think he's overrated. There are plenty of moves to be made here, you just have to be gutsy enough to pull it off.
My thoughts on the reply – I don’t really want to trade Brunnstrom, not yet anyway. I envision this guy as the next Zetterberg (or at least I’m hoping). As for Hartnell, I’m not sure that I want to trade him either, because he should eventually become RW eligible, then I can play both him and Michalek in both spots, which would make my roster nice and tidy with three left wings, three right wings and two swing guys, plus my three centers. I’d like to trim it down to three goalies and then five defensemen. We get a total of 19 roster spots.
Brock Brock Brock... Come on dude, you can't offer up mediocre players and expect top 50's ... or top 20's in return!
Since it's a keeper... I would dangle Jokinen and Morrow out there and see what you could get in return.
Toss Mike Green into the mix, or Phaneuf for that matter and see where that gets you.
Either of the 2 d you got will fetch you lots - D are valuable.
Or even see what Malkin will get you.. I'm sure he could land you another really good center (Datsyuk, Lecavalier) along with another really good player. Toss him in a package and see what happens.
If your league has FW then you're not looking so good with your centers either! Malkin AND Cogs suck at faceoffs AND rarely take them anyways.
I would get Carcillo for Hartnell, they will score about hte same and the extra pims will be good.
McCabe is a bum I would have no use for him and Seabrook and Hainsey are quality D.. I would only dump Hainsey once Whitney is back.
You can't trade Gerber cause he is inconsistent and may not even be the #1 guy... I would look at getting a young gailie since it is a keeper leauge like Bernier, Pogge, Howard in Detroit,

Only problem I got with dropping Hartnell is the penalty minutes and the LW/RW eligibility (which I wish Yahoo would hurry up and give him).
I dunno... Maybe it's time to revamp a little bit. Could try and move Morrow and Michalek. Drop Gerber for a younger goalie. Drop Hartnell for Carcillo.
I just don't like the idea of trading or dropping guys that are eligible at two positions when one is still young and developing (capable of 70 points) and the other gets 100 PIM and 40 points. And I don't like the idea of dropping a starting netminder either. I mean, I should be able to get something for them.
Is it just a matter of growing balls or being content with what I've got? I mean, I did finish second in both the regular and post-season last year. I've got a good team.
if you offered miller as the goalie going the other way in some of those proposals you made! i think you'd find a few takers! you have to be willing to give up a real good goal;ie if you want a great one1 offering gerber just insults and pisses guys off1 so that why i don't think you've had much success making any deals.i mean if you think he is a shit stain what do those other gm's think? in my keeper league where goalies are valuable because we get 5points for every shutout! i have nabokov and he had a monster year last year!9 he was the best goaltender in our keeper leagueand the guy that wants him was offering me a bum(thomas and wolski) for him! and i told him when he's ready to part with ovechkin we'll talk!

And isn't that what we're supposed to do, silly guy? Let's face it, I've got a good team. I don't have a bunch of Cory Stillmans or Martin Erats. The only way for me to improve my team is by getting top fifty type players and the only way for me to get top fifty type players is by package deals. Don't hate me 'cause I'm smart. Hate me because I keep sending you trade offers.
Anybody else got an opinion?
