Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Here's my team. My D isn't looking too solid. Any advice?
C - Vincent Lecavlier
C - Derek Roy
LW - Brendan Morrow
LW - Zach Parise
RW - Jarome Iginla
RW - Marian Hossa
D - Wade Redden
D - Mathieu Schneider
D - Shea Weber
D - Jack Johnson
BN - Peter Mueller
BN - Daniel Carcillo
BN - Nik Antropov
BN - Stephan Robidas
G - Carey Price
G - Cristobal Huet
How did you manage to get Iginla, Hossa and Lecavlier? Is there not many teams in your league?
See if Kris Letang is available on D. He should get lots of PP time/points since Gonchar and Whitney are injured for the Penguins.
If you like to gamble you could always go for Erhoff or Tyutin, both are due for bigger roles and tyutin is top D in Columbus and could do ok. a year ago Erhoff got 10 goals, last season only 1. Who knows
call me crazy but i don't see that as an overly "weak" D. i have a feeling redden will thrive in a environment and we all know hes capable of 40+ points, schnieder will be playing big minutes on a bad thrashers team, hes good for 40+ aswell. shea weber was slowed down bigtime by injuries last year but he too is capable of 35-40 points. johnson is the only guy who hasn't displayed a whole lot of offense thus far but he will likely be playing with doughty and doughty has the ability to rack up big points. so thats a solid enough D core in my opinion.
Check to see if Matt Carle is still available from Tampa (dont confuse with Mathieu Carle of MTL), but yah Carle had a 40 point season with the sharks 2 seasons ago and had a terrible year last year, so check to see if hes available b/c he could get lots of time on the tampa powerplay which is looking very potent this year.
Also consider Letang from Pittsburg, with Gonchar and Whitney both injured long term, he could be their #1 D-man and get lots of time on another strong powerplay.
Other than that, check to see if Seabrook is available or Kuba from Ottawa.
Your defense may not be too great, but your offense is good enough that you wont have to worry about it. You're stacked on the front six. I honestly wouldn't change a thing. Just check out a few defensemen on waivers and stick 'em on your watch list and if they start doing better than the ones you got, make your move. Otherwise, stand pat.

get visnosvky if you can. He's gonna surprise a lot of people.
My D is my strong point. Good offense capabilities and lots of PP time...just how I like it
Burns (in FA!)
Markov (traded campbell for him)
Byfuglien (picked him up cause of LW/D)
I agree. Your defense looks a little weak. Check to see if Duncan Keith from Chicago is still available. He made the All-Star team last year for the West in only his 2nd year. Had a great plus/minus rating. Expect his goals and assists to go up this year.
