Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I'd say to take the deal as is. I agree with the statement that Lang is meaningless in this deal. It's Datysuk for Nabokov, basically.
Many people agree that you should start from the net out when building your team. Legace is decent enough, while Giguere, of course, is very good. Adding Nabokov would give you a very strong goaltending trio. Throw Carcillo into the mix - who alone can almost guarantee that you'll get the PIM you need - and voila ..... half the categories in a standard league are accounted for (see the post from yesterday, I believe, entitled "Goaltending & Carcillo").
The theory is that goaltending & Carcillo can add up to a winning formula. You're only one ingredient - Nabokov - away from owning that formula. Decent - not elite, but decent - players are not hard to find, while elite goaltenders are very few in number. Think of it this way - your goaltenders (that's only 2-3 roster spots - roughly 13-19% of your overall roster) can determine how you finish in 40% of the categories in a standard league's scoring. Clearly, it's vital, then, to become the strongest in net that you can be. After that - go for the categories that the "points first" guys tend to overlook: especially PIM & +/-.
Like I say - the winning formula has been offered to you. Take it, and let the rest of the "points first" guys in your league fight it out for the right to see who loses to you by the slimmest margin.
