That's a silly league......you're putting too much emphasis on good goaltending then. How many contestants will get screwed over just because they weren't the first 8 or 9 to pick up the good goalies??

there are 4 stat categories for goalies, vs 8 for skaters
if people in the first round decide they want to take their goalie, then they won't have another pick until much later on, and miss out on all of the top 35-40 skaters
So those who pass on top notch goalies (15 we'll say.....30 teams in the NHL, half are winners) will have a distinct offensive advantage ....and there are 8 skater cats.
So, even if you miss getting a "good" goalie, you arent totally disadvantaged because a) there are twice as many skater cats as there are goalie stats b) those who *do* take the "good" goalies will have a poorer offensive team due to there choice.
So some teams will have better skaters than goalies
and some teams will have better goalies than skaters.
and since the stats are weighted 2 to 1 skaters to goalies
it should be fairly balanced....because even the "bad" goalies can put up good numbers every now and again.
and since this is a H2H league, their performaces arent cumulative , so it's not like the ones with the weaker goalies will be left in the dust.....they'll simply have weaker goalie stats with a stronger offense on average, and those who do take the good goalies will be disadvantaged offensively. and that's where two thirds of the stats come from.
It's not supposed to be better
it's supposed to different
and you've said it's dumb twice now and haven't given any reason. hmmm, maybe you're what's dumb
The league uses shot percentage rather than SOG
So eliminating the defense will allow owners to manage their SH% without it being brought down by the low percentage defenders have
Also, you will need to put a lot more thought into when and who you draft.
For example.....say you draw 7th pick overall...your next pick won't be until 34, then 47, 73...etc
It eliminates teams made up solely of all-stars, so you need to know more about 3rd and 4th line players who would normal not even get drafted into a league.
So I guess someone with little knowledge of hockey might struggle.....which explains your problem with it.
because it's completely different from other leagues?
or because you wouldn't know how to compete? <-this one
I like to have leagues with different stat settings and roster options because it makes the fantasy season more enjoyable.
thanks for the bump though.
ps get a life
