Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
In our 6x4 H2H league, we must keep at least three players and at most six. 3-5 keepers will replace our first 3-5 draft picks. The optional additional keeper is a rookie that will replace our last pick (can be very valuable!)
I am sold on keeping Crosby, Gaborik, Parise, Nabokov and Gaborik (R), but I should I keep another veteran?
The rest of my team is:
I can opt to keep one player from those guys. Idea here is that this player would be worth a 5th round draft pick in a 10 team league.
Thanks for the help!
You neglected to mention how many teams are in the league. This affects the value of a 5th round pick. Also is the draft order already determined - i.e. do you know your where your pick is going to be?
That being said I think Perry is definitely worth keeping. Guys like Semin, Marleau, Cheechoo, Kostitsyn, and Gagne you can probably pick up later in the draft if you want to. I'd stay away from Gagne and Marleau though I don't think they will be very good next year, but the other guys you might want to draft again, depending on who else is available.

As I said before, it is a 10 team league. I finished 5th, so I will have the 6th pick. Perry's initial value is higher than the rest, so he is liable to be taken if I do not keep him. Kostitsyn will most likely fall due to his name being so new and unknown.
I also think Cheechoo will be worth a 5th-round pick. He was not right physically all year (due to hernia surgery), even though that was hidden from us at the time. Once he finally got better (in January), he was second only to Ovechkin in goals scored the following two months. He also ended up back on Yahoo's top 50.
I'm not sure who I'd keep between Perry and Cheechoo. I guess Perry is the "safer" choice.
I'd go Kostitsyn dont look at his season as a whole, jsut the second half he has been a force and is really young so will only get better and better, plus he is in montreal's system where the first three lines are all putting up good numbers, and should continue to do so the next few years as they are all young except Kovalev and Koivu
I would keep kostitsyn. He will only get better. he should still be on montreals top line next year. but definitely dont go for the 5th round pick. semin perry or kostitsyn should be better than that.
I would say Perry or Semin. Both are multi-category guys...I prefer Semin as he is a better goal scorer and plays with AO. He is more of a risk, but the reward is much greater (his PIM isn't bad either...last year, his 38 goal campaign, he had 90 PIM).
Perry is still good and a safer bet.
