H2H league - G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPP, SOG
In first place in 10-team H2H league...looking to solidify my roster. I have a few opportunities to make some trades involving kovalchuk....
Trade 1 - I give up Kovalchuk for St.Louis straight up
Trade 2 - Kovalchuk and Rolston for St.Louis and Frolov
Trade 3 - Kovalchuk for Lidstrom and shanahan
Are any of these trades worth doing? Kovalchuk has 4 points in his last 11 and is showing no signs of getting hot.....plus is hossa gets traded, it can only hurt Ilya.....
okay, after some trades getting rejected......i have a verbal offer where i give up
kovalchuk and rolston for nash and gaborik.....
pull the trigger in a heartbeat or is this trade closer than i think it is?

I really like this trade. Nash in my opinion is exactly like Kovalchuk...a guy who will get goals from LW. Nash has more advantages though; gets a lot of PIM, is a SOG machine and his +/- isn't as bad (both are bad anyway, but that's not their strength). They are pretty much the same player as you look at both to get goals for your team...except Nash will provide more SOG and PIM. I expect them to score maybe at roughly the same pace, but Nash seems to have found his touch again, scoring number 31 tonight.
And then Gaborik for Rolston...not much explaining to do here.
Pull the trigger.
Any trade would be good, but I like trades 2 and 3 the most. I'm leaning a little more to trade 3 though as Lidstrom's production is just ridiculous for a d-man and gives you a huge edge in defense...I might be a little biased because I own Lidstrom.
Trade 2 is still very good as Frolov is a PPG guy again.
no i agree with that......he's still uncomfortable with wearing the brace.....but its just been a rough stretch over the past 3 weeks with him, and if i can get something of quality in return for him now, i think i would do it, rather than wait for his value to possibly plummet more.
also, all the offense will go through Kovie no doubt...
Either way, it is not certain that Hossa is gone in the first place.
In terms of the original message however, I would only consider the trade if additional +/- could help me in the standings more than G.
With regard to dipshit comment from cwoilers about the cold streak... well, that's pretty typical of people who make 200 moves and don't know shit about hockey.
