Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
My team is in 3rd place in a 16 team H2H league with 195 pts, the 7th place team has 178 pts. I was offered by the 8th place team this trade:
He gets: O. Jokinen, M. Schneider
I get: S. Crosby, R. Whitney
He is simply just trying to make a push for the playoffs, while i'm thinking about doing this trade at the risk of a few spots in the standings to have a better chance of winning come playoff time. I already have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kovalchuk, Hossa, Dumont, Demitra, Avery, Marleau, Chara, Kaberle, McCabe, Kronwall, Kiprusoff, Lehtonen, Kolzig. I think this would still be strong enough to hold down the fort till playoff time. What do you think? should i do the deal?
Risk / Reward ..... Sid will be out for 6-8 weeks for sure ... maybe won't make it back at all this year ... but if you are confident that you'll make the playoffs and that Sid will be back it's a good deal

I'm definitely confident I'll still make the playoffs as there is only 1 week of the last 7 where im playing a playoff oponent so making the playoffs shouldn't be a huge problem. As long as Sid returns in the time he is supposed to, I think i'll have the advantage.
No. You lose out on Jokinen's production, and you don't seem to have anyone to replace him at that spot.
Crosby could be out longer than a month as well, and while you wait for him, you slowly slip in the standings. I see you maybe dropping a couple of spots than if you make this trade.
Not to mention, assuming that's Ryan Whitney, Whitney is losing playing time to Letang.

its good but not great. ollie is super consistent, and while crosby is out, he will likely tally up 15 pts, and 15pim. maybe more. the second one looks better as well, timmonen has been great, even better than kaberle. and this way you dont lose scnheider, who could be a pretty big producer when anaheim starts to make a playoff positioning push(not to mention if he gets moved somewhere to make room for selanne, he will end up heading up the PP wherever he goes).
