Who will Gibbs put in that car? I know many think he is going to be alright. He seems to be superman at times. I thought he was crazy doing knee surgery in the beginning of the season, it proved to be the best move he ever made. This one was not planned and I don't think he will just bounce back, no pun intended...
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin (back) was injured after a hard crash on the final lap of the Auto Club 400 Sunday, March 24. He was battling Penske Championship driver Joey Logano for the lead at the time. Hamlin will be hospitalized overnight, and a JGR statement said Hamlin "complained of lower back pain" at the track's infield medical center, so he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Fantasy Tip: Hamlin will have two weeks to get better before the Sprint Cup Series moves to Martinsville in his home state of Virginia. Right now it's too early to say if Hamlin will be ready, and what sort of contingency plan there is if he cannot race.
There it is folks... it is looking more and more like a fractured vertebrae... 2 weeks is a long time but not that long when it comes to bones healing... This is going to be an interesting story for a few days, it seems...

I have arthritis throughout my body and have for decades, mostly from a bike wreck when I was 18. My early 50's I was racing go karts. Practice 2 to 4 days a week and racing one day. Every time I got out of the kart, I had three golf ball sized knots on my spine. It took a couple of steps to get walking halfway right.
But I got in that kart at every opportunity.
Never underestimate the will of a racer.

It took me 6 months before I was fine when I fractured a vertebrae. I did everything alright but any kind of a jolt to my body sent pain throughout. Any doctor is going to tell him his line of work will be hazardous to his health in a condition such as that.. another accident of similar style could leave him wheel chair racing if he did injure his back...
He has proven many wrong before, but this one just seems a little different then most... they are being too quiet about the extent of it and that leads me to wonder what is going on...
