"And he's out of his car....."

The announcers' voices sound the same as today (is that Dale Jarrett?) -

But THIS "and he's out of his car" is just so different from what I'm used to by " and he's out of his car", today.....today, it usually isn't followed by, "and now he's crawling away"....

    • That was Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons announcing with Ned Jarrett coming in a little later. Marlin actually got burned pretty badly on his face because of the open face helmet and had to have a relief driver the next few races

      • THANK YOU, Cliff! I just got notification of your post when I posted my correction. This was before my time with NASCAR, and I am So Grateful when knowledgeable people like you not only take interest in these posts, but help me along.....

I just got a book called, "He Crashed Me So I Crashed Him Back: The True Story of the Year the King, Jaws, Earnhardt, and the Rest of NASCAR's Feudin', Fightin' Good Ol' Boys Put Stock Car Racing on the Map", and am learning a lot, including the about the true misery and joy in the history of NASCAR.

    • Sorry - Ned Jarrett - Dale Jarrett is in the race....I was following the youtubes on this race, it must have been an amazing one....lots of big-name wrecks (Dale, Terry LaBonte) - but the Sterling Marlin one, wholey-moley.....guess he was sidelined with burns for some time....
