What I was actually alluding too was the fact that Jeff's teammates at HMS were all running in the top ten at the caution that gave Gordon the lucky dog. Then Kasey,Jimmie, and Dale, ALL played out the team order "go Jeffy GO!"...
Not pitting the JGR 18 with 120 to go, sealed his fate. With only 17 cars on the lead lap, all Kyle had to do was beat five cars... FIVE CARS!!! No matter what Gordon or HMS did, Kyle finishing 12th or better would have locked him in. I call that out-thinking yourself at best.
