I dont completly understand what the bench side does in the picks?? Can someone explain Thanks

  With the exception of the 500 they earn you qual points.The first 4 qual spots earn points...
  
  With the exception of the 500 they earn you qual points.The first 4 qual spots earn points whether you race those drivers or not. And the morning of quals your roster will lock and you can only choose from those 8 drivers. The 500 is confusing because they don't earn you points and they can be changed up until race time.
