I used to display this flag on appropriate holidays, but it is too old now.
I have a Garrison size American Flag that is 48 stars and flew over Mare Island Naval Base in Valejo, California during WWII.
It is stenciled with the words "U.S. Ensign 4 Mare Island August, 1942".
I made the front page of the Monterey Peninsula Herald on July 5, 1979 when their photographer came to take photos and presented the idea to the editor who not only approved, but gave me a quarter page of the front page for one of the pics taken on the fourth.
It might be archived on their website now. I've never checked. I have several of the papers.lol
Amen brother, we should give our military relatives, neighbors, or any vets a shout this weekend & just say thanks for your service, they deserve at the very least, a Thank You. And to the fallen ones, rememberance for their sacrifices to our freedom.

I posted some of my dad's military record in another thread.
I also had a couple of uncles that served.
Our every freedom is a direct result of the men and women of our Armed Forces throughout our history.
Every one of them deserves our utmost respect and gratitude.
okay.... sooooo, woke up, put the red white and blue cruiser in front of the house....had Eggs Benedict with a red beer, worked on the race car, shot a few hundred rounds, had a smoked brisket for din din and came home to a nice turkey 7... Happy Memorial Day!!! Thanks to all for giving me that opportunity

Rock On, Uncle Gagger! You're my Favorite Uncle!
I wish that I had celebrated My Freedom today So Awesomely - You've done us all proud today, seriously! - every Veteran who sacrificed, so that you were able to have such an awesome day, must be Very Proud - and I MEAN THAT!
Dang - remind me next year, it is My Duty to embrace & enjoy the freedoms and rights and prosperity for which So Many have Given So Much - that I might embrace & enjoy them! After I help maintain the OLD graves, and make sure the elderly in our community are fed and cared for....it's a balance, you know....Give something back - them celebrate what's been given to you!
Check out this video, great tribute, our Armed Forces are the heroes of heros......Today, I remember them, humble myself, and thank God I live in this Country with these men and women protecting our freedom
Good post Razor. I also thank those that have served as well as those that have fallen. Any American in a uniform is a target. Lets also remember those that were exposed to agents that have had severe complications on their health. Many did not even know they were exposed to them. The symptoms turn up years later that claim their lives. For this, I thank all that have put on an American uniform
Thanks to all who have served and made this a free country in which to live. Happy Memorial Day to All.
(I'm headed off to work for double time and a half today.) Then time for a picnic!
