Should NASCAR bring back the pony car? I've despised the COT since its inception, more likely than not simply because I'm a non conformist. But more importantly I felt it took away from what brought a lot of fans to the track or to tune in on the tube and the safety features of the COT could be easily applied to the pony car. So have a read and if you have an opinion, it could be a simple yes or no, or expand on your reasoning if you wish.
Personally, as I stated earlier I don't believe we ever needed to leave. I understand the financial side that was driving it, but if ya can't hang drop out.
LOL, maybe that can be a goal for next year. I have been to the spring race a couple of times and there isn't a bad seat in the house. It is definately in an out of the way corner of the world, but worth the trip.
I agree, Dawg. We didnt need to change. The COT ...even without the wing ...never looked like a real race car to me and I swear there were more tires cut down with the COT. Now its possible the wing causes cars to flip? How exactly is the COT safer?

The advantage is in the design. The car is taller for more head room, wider and they moved the seat to the right more. This gets the driver off the door and they reinforced the doors. Remember the original insulation caught on fire in Harvicks car in 07.
Like Dawg I love the looks of the old cars, but it won't happen. They really quit running real cars in about '71 (welded the door shut, stripped her down and away we go). The pre-COT car had different templates for every make and model, now they use the same claw on all cars. Nascar is not going to make their job harder again.
My advise is go to your local tracks, there is great racing there and they guys do it for the love of racing. (If its a dirt track sit high in the stands...Lol).
