Owners are plagued with rising costs and dwindling support from the car companies, sponsors are getting tough to come by and the economy is down. This has required owners to be more creative to get the cash flowing. Many have went out and found partners (Roush-Fenway, Gillette-Evernham-Petty, Earnhardt-Ganassi). Some have built coalitions (Childress-Earnhardt, HMS-SHR, Yates-HOF).
Look for Roush to sign Danica Patrick to a long term deal this fall to gain sponsors wanting to take advantage of the marketing opportunity. Before you sneer at this suggestion, I remind you that marketing success is not always tied to success on the track. What driver in Nascar is the most successful from a marketing prospective? Jr hands down, I don't care what you think of his ability, he is by far the most successful.
Danica has the ability to be a big marketing success in Nascar. Love her, hate her, she has star power. Nascar is way too big of a stage for her to turn down and Roush has good enough equipment to entice her to make the move.
The Cat in the Hat knows that better talent than Danica have had a hard time going from the sleek Indy car to the taxi cab they call the COT. Nationwide is a must to give her a chance to make the transition. She will find more than enough talent in this series to bring her down to earth and more attention than the Indy series.
The move makes sense for Danica, RFR, Nascar, sponsors, TV and is coming at the right time. All that is necessary now is getting Danica to accept a Nationwide ride and signing on the bottom line.
OK I will agree about JR making the advertising buck.
who would you say is 2nd My bet goes with Mikie Walbanger/trip to wal or what ever ya'll can come up with.
and I've routed for him since he started driving for my most loved to hate driver Dale Sr. but he can sell you a grain of sand and tell you its a future diamond. while coming in 43 every time.
He's ready to retire and watch from next to jack rouch in the owners seat. I'll miss him.
I think she will surprise alot of people on the track also...and bring that female fan part to nascar also all the women will wear her stuff and root for her...I know I will have you seen this girl in a bathing suit....WOW
RK.......what sponsor wants a loser? OK, Jr had his dad, she might have her looks but....I don't think Nascar fans are going to let Danica get more TV coverage than the winner of a race like Indy car does.
Maybe that is one of the problems w/ the indy car series!
Are YOU going to be a Danica fan? Because she is a good driver? Because she drives for Roush? Or because she takes good pictures?
If she gets in a car and does well, ok. But.......many an DRIVER has tried and many a DRIVER has failed.
My bet is.....she will fail. Sorry :(

Buckey, this subject has seemed to cause you undue stress. I have not been seduced by this temptress. My point is that it has less to do with her driving than her market value. Your question is will fans support someone who does not win the race more than the guy that wins? YES they do every week. Not to bash Jr, but his market value is higher than his winning percentage and I am OK with that fact.
There are thousands of young men that get a chance to drive in various series, but only a few make it to the Cup Series. There are very few women that even get an opportunity to drive, so mathmatically it is almost impossible for them to get to the top. Do I think that she is going to supplant JJ as the Cup leader? No, but I do think she is as good as many of the guys that have gotten a shot at the top. They got their shot because their dad bought sponsorship or they were related to someone or they were just a good old boy at the right place in time.
Indy racing series is second class racing (sorry to their fans). I use to love the CART series, but when they split, they were competing agains themselves and killed the series. Danica is good, though not great in that series. How well will she do in Nationwide? I don't know, but I believe she deserves a shot as much as anybody else, what she does with her opportunity will then be up to her.
will never happen, she will goto sprint if she ever comes to nascar - olus does she really want to come to nascar? She makes mad $ with her sponsors already. Nascar full time ride would not really benefit her unless it was sprint series NOT nationwide! Also, she can do a playboy cover or any other mag and make big $..No financial reasoning for her to ever do nationwide..
I could see Danica in the Nationwide Series next year, but I think she wants to stay in IRL though. What seems more likely to me than her going to Roush in the Nationwide series is that she signs with Ganassi for a 3rd IRL car, which rumors have been out about that, and then runs a Earnhardt/Ganassi car in Nationwide events when she doens't have IRL races. Kinda like what Hornish did before he came over full time, just to see the style of racing and such and the schedule demands.
