    Danica to Nationwide Series in 2010

    Owners are plagued with rising costs and dwindling support from the car companies, sponsors are getting tough to come by and the economy is down. This has required owners to be more creative to get the cash flowing. Many have went out and found partners (Roush-Fenway, Gillette-Evernham-Petty, Earnhardt-Ganassi). Some have built coalitions (Childress-Earnhardt, HMS-SHR, Yates-HOF).

    Look for Roush to sign Danica Patrick to a long term deal this fall to gain sponsors wanting to take advantage of the marketing opportunity. Before you sneer at this suggestion, I remind you that marketing success is not always tied to success on the track. What driver in Nascar is the most successful from a marketing prospective? Jr hands down, I don't care what you think of his ability, he is by far the most successful.

    Danica has the ability to be a big marketing success in Nascar. Love her, hate her, she has star power. Nascar is way too big of a stage for her to turn down and Roush has good enough equipment to entice her to make the move.

    The Cat in the Hat knows that better talent than Danica have had a hard time going from the sleek Indy car to the taxi cab they call the COT. Nationwide is a must to give her a chance to make the transition. She will find more than enough talent in this series to bring her down to earth and more attention than the Indy series.

    The move makes sense for Danica, RFR, Nascar, sponsors, TV and is coming at the right time. All that is necessary now is getting Danica to accept a Nationwide ride and signing on the bottom line.
