    Night-to-Day set-ups

How do Y'All think the various teams will adapt, changing to set-ups for a night race to set-ups for a day race? I cain't help but think that many would have brought different cars to this track if they had known they would've ended up racing in an afternoon race instead of an evening race. Do Y'All think this is true or not? I'm out for several hours, but very much looking forward to reading your thoughts when I return. Thank You!

    • Hey Joanie.....110 yrs old? You should be a little slow!! lol

    • speak english please, I can't understand nothing ya'll here are sayin'.

    • The english lession board is down the hall......do you even know the the background between JGP and most people on this board? If you did you yourself would be better informed......If I was being graded on my spelling/grammer .........you need to run on back over to the board you came from and play with them......

    • Hey Joanie.....I think they will do a famous "precautionary yellow" about 30 laps in just so everyone can adjust right off!

    • I don't think a different car is needed, I also think most teams anticipated the change and already have their cars ready for a day race ! :)

    • Unless Nascar Changes the rule for this race...the cars are impounded b/c this is an impound race.......the team will not be able to adjust anything....Im sure Nascar wil throw a CC within the 1st 10 or so laps so the cars can be ajusted....

I think the bigest difference will be the with the grip on the track...The track will be clean and will not have had the NNS race run before the Cup race to put rubber on the track...The engines that are built for night races are intended to turn more RPM due to when the track cools off the grip gets better the car goes faster and turns more RPM.......as far the general setup of the car it would be about the same even the same day or night....

      • Good stuff, Boobie!

      • Engines are "Tuned" different to run at night not built different RPM is achieved by the rear end gear that is chosen. You can build a motor anyway you choose but if the rear end gear is not correct you will either Run out of gear (to many RPM's) or not have enough gear at which point you're not (turning enough RPM's) Timing (Advance it or Retard it) Adjusting the Carburator (Air and Fuel mixture) and maybe running a hotter burner spark plug is about all they would mess with on a motor running it at night. Other then that you can turn 50,000 RPM'S and if the rear gear ain't right you aint going no faster.

    • Actually if anything this should help, as their practice was in the daytime. Although the conditions may well be different tomorrow than they were yesterday. Of course, at the Cup level you've got plenty of time in the race to make changes and plenty of smart people to figure out the changes to make.

      For the most part :-p

    • With a good driver this will not make a huge difference. However the drivers nowadays are just way too picky and have to run a certain line or they can't handle the car or drive to the front. If you take a really good driver and put him in the setup that a driver who complains a lot, then it won't bother the really good driver one bit. For example, Dale Jr. he is the whiniest ass crybaby to ever hit Nascar, he can only drive his car a certain way, where as if you took Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch or Carl Edwards and put him in that same car, they would beat the field by about 10 car lengths. A lot of people will say I am just Jr. bashing but that is the truth. This is why Carl, Jimmie, or Carl can win so often because they don't rely solely on their setup to do the job for them, they can drive a car to the front in any condition. If Jr's car gets out of its setup just a hair he can't handle it because he wants to run it only a certain way.

      • 1st off who is this other Carl your speak of:

"This is why Carl, Jimmie, or Carl can win so often because they don't rely solely on their setup to do the job for them"

So you the that Kyle has been fast off the truck all year?
You talk like Kyle Carl and JJ could just win with any Crew Chief....Do you think this to be true??
You should tell this to all the teams that talk about the track changing.........

Sometimes you need to read and understnad what your saying, before you open the door for someone like me to show everyone how truly miss informed you really are......
