No Jr is not his father, nor did he ever count himself as such. He is very proud of his father, as he should be and aspires to win as his father did. The chances of him equaling his fathers numbers are not good, nor are there many drivers today that have a very good chance of equaling. Only Gordon and Johnson numberically are in contention for that mark.
But those that hate Jr probably hated his father as well. I have been to many tracks and never have I heard people boo Jr. Every track that I went to booed Sr.
Jeff Gordon started getting booed early on in his career. This concerned him and he asked Dale Sr how he handled this problem. He told him not to worry about them booing you, worry when they stop, because they no longer fear you.
Jr will probably never reach his fathers numbers, but he is still a talented driver and is a positive role model for this sport. He is the kind of guy that you would want to gang out with on a Saturday night. Quit hating and just enjoy the race.
