I was reading something the other day,and they pointed out an obvious about the training series. How can NASCAR owners groom new talent if half of the drivers in the series are already in the big show? People had a problem with Mc Dowell coming from ARCA to NASCAR without spending time in the Nationwide. Why would anyone want to drive Nationwide when they can just jump to Sprint? I know the Nationwide has become just as popular as Sprint, but it has lost it's ture use. I think full time sprint guys should hand over the keys to the Rooks and return Nationwide to what it was. The AAA of NASCAR.

Do you guys know the differences between Cup cars and ARCA cars?...
Do some research and get back with me on that! I think you will be surprised and also gain understanding as to why I believe so highly in Michael McDowell's talent... (check out the specs on both cars.) HINT: HOOSIER and Edelbrock.- View Replies

GoaT I beleive you! After doing some research, McDowell has a very impressive resume. And yes, ARCA cars are the same as old cup cars. And they race on very similar tracks. Mickie D had the most wins last year (4) and 9 poles and finished 2nd in the points as a rookie. And he won on 4 different types of tracks. I just hope he has the team to be good, i don't know if anyone can be successful with MWR. If he does come around it deffenitely will be the 2nd half of the season.

Well the problem is about three years ago the "Busch Series" had extremely low attendance, and NASCAR was trying to figure out how to fix the problem. What they did was to make it better for the "Winston" drivers to come in and race in order raise attendane. This has worked, and I think it is actually the best bet they have. If it where full of rooks there would be limited following thus making for a series that dwindels until it is evaporated.

Busch has always had cup drivers. Why do you think Mark Martin has 3 times the amount of wins as every one else in the series? It is just that cup drivers have increased recently because of sponsorship issues and drivers looking for an edge in competition at the cup level. No question though,McDowell shouldnt be in that car, he nearly died.

Never looked at it like that. It's a shame that it winds up being a double edge sword. This is how those open wheel hot shots that can't drive stock cars wind up in the Sprint series.

I agree ,I don't think they should be allowed to drive unless there an owner/driver. I also think that any open wheel driver who wants to race in the cup series should have to race one full season in the Nationwide series before they are allowed to get behind the wheel of a cup car.

I don't mind Cup drivers in Nationwide as long as Nationwide drivers don't miss the race. Let's say 40 Nationwide only drivers show up, then only the 3 fastest Cup drivers should make it in.
Cup drivers are ok to fill up the field but they shouldn't be able to bump out the Nationwide only drivers. - View More Messages
