Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Now that the dust has settled, I will ask this one last time.
12 team h-2-h 9 category keeper leauge where we keep 5 players. Who should I keep? It's tough because this year was the 1st year and I built my team around punting FT% with guys like Howard, Drummond, Thad Young etc. But now, should I keep Howard again, or not? If so, keep Drummond too?
Right now I'm thinking of going with:
Vucevic, Lopez, Cousins
But, if I keep howard, which one do I NOT keep?
Conley-he will the be premier pg for memphis for a long time. they have a great core and he holds that fort with gasol.
Vucevic-the prime Center for orlando for years to come. He was the main piece for dwight that turned out to be a great piece. dlb dlb. i dont know anyone else besides howard that put up 3 20/20 this year.
Lopez-good solid team. the team is built around d will and lopez for years to come.
Dwight-wherever he goes he will still be a dominant Center. I wouldnt drop him ever even if it is punting Ft%.
Now the 5th piece i am not sure. If i had to choose from potential break out it be drummond. he is very valuable. Dlb Dlb just like vucevic. If i had to choose from, ok i know what im getting, id choose Dragic. But the red flag is that suns team is too eradic for me. Id also think about going cousins. But ill tell you this, if you go vucevic/lopez/dwight/ drummond or cousins you can just concentrate on drafting nothing but G/SG/SF next year. it would be a lot less stressful for me.

Thanks, I just think there's no way I could possibly keep Drummond for his potential, over Cousins who has already proven to be a beast, reguardless of his off court antics. Some people say, he'll only be known as that guy with "potential", because of all the other stupid stuff he does. But I'd say averaging 17 and 10, with nearly 3 assists, 1.5 steals and .7 blocks, with pretty good FT% for a big man, isn't too shabby. There won't be many players available in the re-draft with that type of skill. Not to mention his biggest on court compalint in the past has been his FG%. But right now he's averaging 46% for the year. That's not awesome for a big man, but it's not that bad either.
I think keeping 5 PF/C's and just drafting Gaurds in the redraft is an interesting strategy, I'm just not so sure that there will be much available. We haven't announced our intended keepers yet, but I am 99.9% sure that all of these PG's will be kept:
Chris Paul, Steph Curry, Dwayne Wade, Kyrie Irving, Russel Westbrook, Deron Wlliams, Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis, John Wall, Rajon Rondo, Ty Lawson, Jrue Holiday.
So, the pest possibilities that MIGHT be available, and some of these guys will likely be kept as well would be :
Jeff Teague, Greives Vasquez, Jameer Nelson, Kyle Lowry, George Hill, Jose Calderon.
With those being possibly the best options available for the 1st pick, and me possibly not picking until 12th, I think I'd rather stick with Conley and Dragic to ensure I have 2 quality PG's.
That way I'll have 2 PG's, and 3 PF/C's, draft a SG/SF with my 1st pick, and then just go with best available for the rest of the draft.
I'm just having a hard time narrowing down the 3 PF.C's between:
Lopez, Vucevic, Cousins, Howard, Drummond.
I don't specially like Cousins because of his disciplinary problems. Who knows if he ever grows up. But on the other hand he seems to be too good not to be kept.
I'm not quite sure Dragic is able to sustain keeper value for years, but it could be only my foolish remark.
Howard can be a championship winner in leagues where FTM and OREB are separate categories, but in 9 cat he may kill you, so you are right if you are considering those 5.
All of these three are the kind of guys you should keep but should maybe also trade later. For a Marc Gasol, a Paul George maybe.

Thanks for your response. Yes, if FTM was a category instead of FT% I wouldn't hesitate to keep Howard, he'd be a 1st round value. But it's still hard to put someone that can easily get 20 pts and 20 rebs with 5 blks back into the re-draft. Even if he does suck at FT's!
