Duhon and Jordan Hill. It is a 14 team league. I needed depth in the frontcourt. Howard is good, but in a 14 team league where the talent is spread thin, having heavy rebounders like Asik and pekovic really helps. Also, Neal in a 14 team league holds alot of value as a 3 pt specialist.
Pekovic is not a "heavy rebounder" and although Asik doesn't shoot as high of volume of FT's as Dwight, getting rid of Dwight's poor FT% and taking on Asik's isn't going to help you win that category. Neal does hold SOME value in a 14 team league (I am in plenty of 16 and 20 team leagues) but not "a lot". Especially when you consider Kawhi Leonard is going to take a bulk of Neal's offensive touches when he returns.
I completely understand trading studs for depth. But not when that depth is a handful of borderline fantasy relevant players. You can rationalize it all you want, but you lost out on this one. You could have EASILY traded Howard away for depth and got much better value in return. For example, getting 2 consistent rebounders who DON'T shoot under 50% from the line, and a 3 PT shooter who is gaurunteed minutes all season, not 1 who is largely filling in for an injured player and playing for a coach who is notorious for changing lineups.
I realize that you really want to justify this trade. If you came on here to get honest feedback, that is what you will get. If you came on here looking for everyone to agree with you and pat you on the back for a job well done you will be sorely disappointed.
Terrible trade for you. You messed up bad.
Pekovic is underperforming, Neal will not produce anthying when Kawhi comes back, and Asik is struggling.
You were better off just keeping Dwight and whichever 2 guys you dropped.
Someone just hit a home run with their picks off of the FA. They get Dwight and 2 extra slots to fill.
