Something I always think about when I try and do a 2 for 1 trade is..."Who would he drop if this trade went through"

If the value of the player he drops and the player your targeting is still higher then what your offering, you can consider it a no go.

You might offer Roy + Aldridge, that might get you Melo but then think of who he drops and stand in his shoes for a minute.

Aldridge may do it but Morrow and Beasley would not.
