Who to Start Message Board
Please help set my lineup for a crucial playoff semi-final matchup in a standard Yahoo head-to-head scoring league. If only I knew as much about football as I do hockey. My opponent had Phillip Rivers give him a 22 fantasy point lead over me already. Below is my roster and why I set it.
QB: Tom Brady (NE - QB) @ GB
WR: DeSean Jackson (PHI - WR) @ NYG
WR: Joe Webb (MIN - QB,WR) @ CHI
WR: Wes Welker (NE - WR) @ GB
RB: Ryan Torain (WAS - RB) @ DAL
RB: Danny Woodhead (NE - WR,RB) @ GB
TE: Vernon Davis (SF - TE) @ SD
K: David Akers (PHI - K) @ NYG
DEF: Tampa Bay (TB - DEF) @ DET
Drew Brees (NO - QB) @ BAL
Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR) @ PIT
Santana Moss (WAS - WR) @ DAL
Rashard Mendenhall (PIT - RB) @ NYJ
LaDainian Tomlinson (NYJ - RB) @ PIT
Ricky Williams (MIA - RB) @ BUF
QB: Brady, Brees, Webb. While the Packers have allowed fewer fantasy points to QBs than the Ravens, Brady has been on fire since Thanksgiving. So I am thinking Brady over Brees. No chance I'm playing Webb at QB over those two. Brady wins.
WR: Holmes, Jackson, Moss, Webb, Welker, Woodhead. This is my toughest position. Holmes has a decent match against the Steelers, but a cold QB in Sanchez. Jackson has been incredible with Vick. Moss has a very favourable matchup against the worst WR pass defense in the NFL, but Grossman instead of McNabb is also questionable. Webb will have a horrible QB game against Chicago, but a horrible QB game should still get me more fantasy points than most of my WR, so I'll play him here. Welker and Woodhead have a tough Packers defense, but NE is hot as hell right now, so I want to play them both. Tough choice, but Jackson, Webb, and Welker win.
RB: Mendenhall, Tomlinson, Torrain, Williams, Woodhead. Mendenhall faces a tough Jets defense. Tomlinson has been rusty this second half of the season, been months since last TD I believe. Torrain was scorching last week and should do quite fine against Cowboys. Williams has a favourable matchup against the Bills. Woodhead, as mentioned, is with the hot Patriots. Torrain and Woodhead win.
TE: Davis. Just one catch for 4 yards Not even half a fantasy point. My only consilation is knowing that when he had only one catch for 3 yards last month, I still managed to win that week.
K: David Akers. Reliable. Philly-Jets should be a high scoring game.
DEF: Tampa takes on lowly Detroit. Other available free agent options include Oakland, Carolina, Arizona, and New Orleans.
Any help would be much appreciated as my matchup has Petersen and Green-Ellis at RB to go with Phillip Rivers!
Sit Webb. It looks really cool to have a QB as a WR, but the fact is he's a rookie and a third string to boot. Look at what Chicago has done to third stringers this season. They've faced three and desimated them all. I foresee single digits for Webb. My guess is the Vikes will try to pound it out on the ground with Peterson and Gerhart.
