    FREE 20-team, 27stats, live draft 03/23 10 AM need 8 teams

i understand what you are trying to say in your posting on here, but then you just need to make your league be either a win or a loss for a team each week if you are going to use so many categories... 27 potential wins and losses each week really adds-up over a course of a season... that's why i prefer less categories each week, so your record is only changing by 10 to 14 outcomes each week... you could be 27-0 one week and another team can already be 0-27 in your league after one week as well... i'm sorry but that just doesn't seem right... so if you want to use so many categories to weight things properly for your league, then you should just give each team ONE win and ONE loss each week based on if they win the majority of the categories for that particular week or not...

    • Greg, you seem like a reasonable person, so I'll answer your concerns. Actually, the only thing more categories does is increase fairness and decrease randomness. (Have a look at the standings from last year below.) One win/one loss per week leagues are inherently random. That's what I don't like fantasy football. It injects an incredible amount of luck. With 27 games at stake each week, you get a very accurate picture of the performance for that week. If it's a tight contest, one team will win 14-13, 15-12, 16-11, etc. In a one win/one loss set up, you actually make it winner take all, and close contests and blowouts result in the same 1-0 score. That's actually very unfair in a very tight contest. What happens is that the winner of the league ends up being a team that simply managed to squeak out a lot of close victories, and there are always a handful of unlucky teams that had some massive blowouts but lost a couple of tight contests. If you think about it like that, you can see that more stat categories creates less randomness. You can also think about it this way: If there are only 24 games during the season, is that anywhere near as fair as having 600 games? Of course having 600 games is fairer and much more likely to ferret out randomness. Now, if I haven't convinced you, that's okay. Good luck finding a league you like. But I hope you understand that at least I believe what I'm saying is true. You can see below in the standings that 15 games separated first, second, third, and fourth places--out of a total of nearly 600! That's a very tight race! And 19/20 of these guys renewed within the first week. They say it's an awesome set up.

      • Those numbers are total "wins-loses-ties" in the regular season.
        4. TheBournUltraMaybin 313-226-33 .576 - - $71 38
TheBournUltraMaybin won the regular season, so "-" after ".576" means zero games behind first place. He had 313 wins, 226 losses, and 33 ties.
        1. Edinburgh Spectres 311-230-31 .571 3 - $53 68
Edinburgh finished 2nd in regular season, but won the championship in the playoffs. The "3" represents games out of first at the end of the regular season.
