I'm in a head-to-head roto league and two league members had a fairly substantial sidebet on which one of their teams would end the season with the best record. Long story short, they played each other in the 2nd to last week of the regular season with the bet on the line. Team A won the matchup 6-5 (they tied one category) and he took ERA by posting a 3.13 to best his opponent's 3.20. Team A started Jason Vargas on August 29th. On September 10th, after Team A had been awarded the win, Yahoo posted a stat correction charging Vargas with one more earned run in his August 29th start. That additional ER would have bumped Team A's weekly ERA to 3.22, and therefore, given the week (and the large sidebet) to Team B. To summarize: Team A has a valid argument that they "won" the week. Team B has an equally valid argument that they actually "won" the week when all statistics were properly accounted for. So what controls here? I'm really struggling with how to resolve this dispute.

See the help topic "Incorrect Stats in Live Scoring". Final statistics are not official until all stat corrections have been applied, usually a day or so after the last game in the scoring period. If it was my league, the stats speak for themselves, so whatever the correct final stats are, that's what they are. In my league Team B is the victor in the above scenario, especially since Yahoo! rules explicitly say they can apply stat corrections after the fact. As Yogi said many years ago, "It ain't over 'til it's over".

I think your friend got screwed but White Mountain is right in what he says. To be honest my opinion is that the bet should be called off. Both side have reason to believe they won and friendships have been lost for less.
