    Experienced Keeper knowledge needed

I am in my 3rd year as commissioner and this year my league wanted to try a keeper league. I am flexible and willing to try anything but I have some questions. I have no idea how to run the draft. I've heard that whatever round your keeper was drafted last year is the round you lose that pick. What happens if someone keeps a player that they did not draft? What if someone doesn't want to keep anyone on their roster, are their other options? Its a one player keeper league too. Please let me know if there's anything else I should know about my first keeper league season.

    • In a keeper league, there is no rule you have to have any keepers. You can release your entire roster if you wish.

    • I was in a keeper league where we could keep up to 3 players. We drafted knowing that the next year would start the keeper league. Teams would have to declare their keepers a week before the draft, and the picks would go as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounds. If someone only kept one player, they would get a pick in the 2nd and 3rd round. Draft order was set by reverse order of standings from previous year. First 3 rounds of draft were regular order. Snake draft started with 4th round. Also, you could only declare the same player a keeper for 2 seasons, then he went to free agency. (that means you actually had him for 3 seasons) This created interesting scenarios as time went on and kept the league as a keeper league instead of a dynasty league.
      Hope these ideas help..........good luck.........

    • You can set it up anyway you want.
The keeper player could replace the 1st round pick. If someone doesn't want to keep anybody... then they will have a first round pick.
You could force everyone to keep 1 player at no penalty (cost a last round pick)
Sure the keeper player could cost whichever round they were drafted in last year. Some leagues don't allow players to be kept if they weren't drafted last year. Some leagues assign a round for these players. 7th, or 10th, or last round
      It's completely up to you
