Thinking about adding a flex to fantasy rosters.

I am the Co-Commish in our league. This would take effect week 3 or 4. should i ask the league, take it to a vote or use commissioner's desecration? is this common? a bead idea? We never played with a flex before and wanted to make things more interesting. Also, should I add another position to franchises if this takes place?

    • CAN'T BE DONE POST DRAFT. You have to specify the # AND TYPE OF POSITIONS BEFORE THE DRAFT. You're a bit late here co-commish. You need at least 1 flex. It helps make things more interesting and fun. It's not that big of a deal. You act like you're jumping into shark infested waters with your tentativeness.

    • I don't think that you can add a flex after the draft has occurred. If you did this type of move after the draft, I guarantee you that the majority of the managers will want to rip off your head and shove it down your neck. Going into the draft, each manager would have some type of plan before the draft. The type of strategy in a draft with a flex and without a flex would be completely different. Adding a flex after a draft will put teams at a disadvantage unless they planned for it.

I'm not discounting the value of adding a flex in a league. I'm just saying that it would be a bad idea to do it if you were given the opportunity.

    • Changing roster positions after the draft is a good way to make your managers angry. With good reason. You should discuss the topic of adding the position for next year, and motivate your managers to return to your league next year, since they will appreciate a commish that does not abuse power by changing significant rules after the draft (which nullify the effort put into good draft strategy)

    • In larger leagues the flex position is a must to keep it competiteve. We actually have 3 flex and only 1 RB, Wr, TE to provide max flexibility to owners.

You can add that position after the draft, yahoo will allow you to increase the number of slots on any position, it WIL NOT allow you to reduce any however.

    • Sam, I agree with Jason - FLEX adds more options & more fun. But you can't do it - check setting roster positions under the Commish Tools. I think it says something like you can add bench/IR positions during the season, but you cannot change &/or add starting positions once your draft is completed. But do it next year. Good luck.

    • changing anything midseason is very difficult. I love the flex position. It adds strategy, and even helps with trades because it gives owners more options. Adding starting positions should also mean adding bench positions. I would say 1 to 2 for every added starting position. And at least tell the team first, even if you don't take it to a vote. I've found it very hard to get a response from everyone when it comes to voting, but it's better than being accused of doing something without any support. The loudest, most opposed owners will voice their opinions first if you do something without a vote.

      • i never change settings/positions after a draft and certainly not after the season starts. sure, I agree with a flex which can be done next season. many draft according to positions so that's why I think it's not a good idea after the season starts....UNLESS (but I never do this) unless everyone in the league agrees to it. gl!
