I run a head -to-head 12 team 13 week regular season schedule. My concern is some teams get to play a lousy team twice virtue of week 12 and 13 rematches and some team play champions twice. What would be a fair way to reschedule weeks 12 and 13 to compensate teams that have had the most points scored against them versus teams that have had weak schedules. I like the idea of possibly playing two games per week but I don't think you can setup the league that way in yahoo.

You could consider 3 divisions of 4 teams. Play 6 games against your division, 2 each, and 7 against the other 8 teams. This does leave everyone with one team they didn't play at all, but if you guarantee a playoff spot for each division winner, I would consider 2 head-to-head games against your entire division quite fair. This still gives you the option to have 1, 3, or 5 wild card spots.
Technically, 4 divisions of 3 teams would be completely fair if you're guaranteeing a playoff spot for each division, but for some reason a guaranteed spot for every 3 teams seems far more ridiculous to me.

Appreciate the thoughts. My friend says in their league they play head-to-head and also against the league average every week so it kind of combines the head-to-head aspect plus a vs the field kind of situation. So if say you had the 2nd highest score and played the best that week you go 1-1 on the week and by the same token if you have the 2nd worst score and beat the worst you will go 1-1 and not gain on a better team. Over the length of the season it seems this method may sort it out a bit better than a normal 13 week schedule. I like your idea but I want to avoid a Seattle Seahawk situation where a say a 6-7 division winner gets in and a 7-6 2nd place division team is out what do you think?

3 div 4 teams play div opponents 2x use 14 week schedule but schedule a non bye week of your choice using the match ups from week 14 as a double header creating a balanced schedule 13 weeks long 6 playoff teams
No divisions play each team once weeks 12 and 13 are played against league avg
Yahoo allows you to set the matchups for any week including multiple opponents
