Commissioner Corner Message Board
Problem: Defenses should only get point for PUNT return yards not Kickoff return yardage too.
Why: Defenses should get the punt return yardage as a bonus for stopping the other team's offense. No way a Defense should get the bonus of kickoff return yardage when they did not stop the other teams offense.
Solution: Yahoo, please allow Commissioners the ability to select either Punt and/or Kickoff return yardage and any resulting TD's next year, as a possible Defense bonus. Please don't make it all inclusive as it is now.
Also, any thought to having the option to pick a teams Offense as a scoring position? Presently, we can select a team defense. It might be interesting to allow for an Offense to be picked in place of the RB/WR roster position. Might we also have the ability to use the other RB/WR slot as another QB position if we choose to do so?
Defense scoring is actually the defense and special teams . Defenses lose points when the other team scores and gain points from tackles, sacks, turnover recoveries and TDs based on a turnover. The special teams gain points when they return balls - yardage and scores. Yahoo currently allows you to discount special team yardage (both punt and kick off returns); however, not one or the other. Perhaps special teams should be seperate from defense.
Personally, I'd like to see points allowed for a 3 and out; pinning team within 5 or 10 yardline; and losing points for penalties (all players).
I'd also like to see team QB selection rather than individual QB or the ability to replace a player in the middle of the game. Perhaps with one that has not already played or any player if starter is injuried before half time.

I respectfully disagee. If the defense stops the opposing offense then they get the ball back via a punt return. Only that yardage should be credited to the defense. Why would the defense get kickoff return (KR) yardage too? For giving up points? It makes no sense to combine the two. Defenses should only get punt return (PR) yardage. That my humble opinion. At the very least let the league commish have a choice between the three: Both KR yardage and PR yardage, or either one of the the two.
