Commissioner Corner Message Board
Guy is in 2nd place in our league, im in 3rd. He just pulled off a huge trade before the deadline to get gore for his schaub, j charles, and crabtree. gore goes down and i quickly snag westbrook. of course hes pissed. The argument is should there be a trade deadline? If your going to put in effort all year and have key players go down y not be able to trade all year? on the flipside trading with basement teams poses a threat to the integrity of the league all season after week 10. Your thoughts?
Unfortunately, there has to be deadlines. I hate them, personally, because I LOVE to trade. I have created some uber-talented teams thanks to some really savvy trades.
The unfortunate part is that some players get pissed off when they realize they are going to miss the playoffs. So they try to screw things up as much as possible. So they might make really stupid trades (like giving up Maclin for White and Ray Rice or something) just to screw with the league. Things like that might be easy for a commish to stop, but sometimes trades get murky. Like what if a playoff team trades his backup QB for two good WRs from a guy who isn't going to make the playoffs? Normally the trade would never happen, but since that other guy knows he won't reach the playoffs, he doesn't care. The trade is bias and unfair, but it might be hard to prove that it's bias. Just creates unnecessary drama when you don't have the deadlines in place. It's sad, but true.
Just my two cents.
