I've got both Jason Hammel and Travis Wood on my staff. So far both pitchers are giving me the low era/low whip combo that I added them for. However, as Cubs starters, these two pitchers aren't expected to fill up the "win" column (our league measures wins, era, whip, k's, and nsv).
I'm thinking of dropping one of them in order to pick up Martin Perez of the Rangers. This will probably raise my weekly era/whip, but should provide me with a few more wins. I know that Hammel's year-end results mask volatility. He can follow a gem with a nasty implosion; while Wood seemed steady all of last year (note: I also have Scott Feldman on my staff, hence the need to find some more wins even if I have to pay for it with era/whip).
