Brett Anderson pitches at home vs. MIN tomorrow. I am likely to see how he does his first time out, but curious to see is anyone has any numbers or insight i would know that edges toward the side of: start this guy.
It is usually not a good idea to start a guy coming off a DL stint, particularly if it's been as long as Anderson's, not to mention that it was for Tommy John surgery. Guys coming off a long DL stint usually are on a pitch/inning count, so they rarely go longer than 5 or 6 innings. Not to mention that some pitchers need to get their rhythm and timing back, and most can't do it right away. Yeah, the Twins offense is not so good and they are playing in Oakland, but I wouldn't start him in his first outing back.
