Who to Start Message Board
This is my first year playing fantasy ball and I can't seem to figure it out...
C- Bengie Molina
1- David Ortiz, Aubrey Huff
2- BJ Upton
3- Yunel Escobar, Evan Longoria
SS- Jose Reyes, Derrek Jeter
OF- Carlos Quentin, Bobby Abreu, Jay Bruce, Carlos Gonzalez
I just traded Abreu, Jeter and Molina for McCann and Matt Holiday, but that doesn't got through untill Thur... So this is what I have to work with...
There aren't any closers out on the wire, I know that's my biggest need...
If you can't tell I'm a waiver wire junkie, always looking for the next best thing...
Just got Carlos Gonzalez off the wire and don't know much about him except for what I've read... Any one have any good advice about that guy?
Is it worth selling Bruce high? I know that seems to be the thing to do, but I haven't been getting enough offensive production as of late (hope that Holiday and McCann will help there) and am having trouble letting him go..
Advice on who to start would be great... I think I have a decent core of players, but don't know what I gotta do to start winning...
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
You oughtta be able to dump Bruce to pick up a decent reliever and another mi-level position player.
I think your problems are your tendency to waiver hunt. You need to build a strong lineup, then only make minor tweeks. Like actual baseball, fantasy baseball is a long season. Just because a guy is hot or cold now doesn't mean he'll be that way all season. A .250 hitter isn't likely to bat .300 all year long and vice versa.
My first year in Fantasy Baseball I led the league in player moves by a 2-to-1 margin over my next closest contender. At the end of the year I was in nearly last place because I was picking up or ditching guys based on how they performed LAST month instead of how they should perform NEXT month.
This year is my third year. I've got three leagues going and I'm ranked first, first and a close second (and closing).

I hear ya man... I'm trying to calm down on all the transactions... I guess what I don't like is the automated draft we did stuck me with a lot of players I didn't want...
With adding Holiday and McCann... And shopping Bruce around, I think I can get that solid core you're talking about... But I didn't think it'd be this much damn work! LOL...
Thanks for the tips
Your roster looks decent, but you can probably find better pitchers than Wan-Rod and Kershaw. Which categories do you find yourself losing the most often? If it's HR then get more cleanup hitters, if it's Runs get more #1 or #2 hitter, etc.

Dumped Kershaw for Torres (RP-Mil)...
Don't know what exactley to do with Wandy... Maybe play the rotating pitcher game like suggested above... that was really the only reason he was in my lineup anyways...
I'm normally laking in HR's... And every week it seems to be something else... Really hard to put a band-aid on the wound when I can't find it
thanks for the advice...
Grabbed Torres and dropped Kershaw... He might be great, but I don't have the patience for him and think I have a decent starting staff...
Have been looking at grabbing Blake DeWitt to try out at 3rd... Don't know though, want to keep somewhat of a balance between veterans and younger players...
Any one got sleepers at 3rd?

League is H2H...
Don't really know what to do about the closer/RP situation??
Ortiz getting injured hurts, seemed like he was just heating up...
I got F'd on the 3rd base spot... We did an automated draft and they stuck me with Josh Fields, who's good, but playing in the minors, so I've been scrambling all year... Hoping Longoria comes around... If not I'll keep playing Escobar for the ave/runs

have you tried looking at categories you trail at and maybe finding players who will help you in that area. But truth is personnally im no higher than third in roto leagues this year. but running first in head to head on my two teams.
