    Rules regarding vetoing trades

I am the commissioner of a private league and I suspect possible collusion between two of the teams.

As a result, I vetoed the following trade:

    Team A trades

James van Riemsdyk Tor - F

    Shea Weber Nsh - D

    Niklas Kronwall Det - D

    to Team B

Valtteri Filppula TB - F DTD

    Ryan McDonagh NYR - D

Kris Letang Pit - D DTD

I have asked the Manager who I feel is getting the worse end of the deal how this trade benefits his team.

Does anyone know if there are official rules around the commissioner's right and are they published anywhere? Also, do you think I have the right to veto this trade? The categories in our league are Goals, Assists, PIM, PPP, SHP and GWG. Team A's player's lead in 5 of the 6 categories and are tied in the 6th. Plus, two of the proposed player's are currently injured.

    Your thoughts??

    • veto the sh#$ out of that

    • Well, first and foremost, its a private league, so its your call. There aren't official rules because its your private league so you make the rules. Yahoo won't step in if the managers don't like that their trade got vetoed, so you're in the clear there.

This is a very lopsided trade, and was clearly collusion.

      • Thanks Dan. It's important to add that the same two Manager's completed a trade a week ago, Karlsson and Seguin for Yandle and Eberle (I think you know what player's were going to what team). I also felt that this was an uneven trade but I let it go as I didn't feel like I was in a position to question it as it was close but still a little one-sided. Now with a second uneven trade in a week between the same two Manager's, I have to veto and question it. The problem I have is that I am also playing in this league and when I questioned one of the Manager's, I was told that the only reason I had an issue with it was because I wasn't the one getting the player's. I just wish there was something published about the Commissioner's right to veto a trade that they think is unfair.

Anyway, thanks for the support. I think I am in a better position to handle any further questions that they may come to me with.

    • You were right to veto - the commissioner is there to ensure fairness for all of the teams in the league, and this trade is very lopsided.

I don't think there's any defensible argument that it's an even trade.
