The best way to do this is to let you in at first as a probationary team. That way I can have a look at your Yahoo profile and see your track record. I'm basically going to look at your performance in fantasy hockey I'm looking for something around 55%-60%. I'm also going to look at a few other things such as how many leagues you generally join at one time, etc.

There are only three basic requirements for being in this league: number one, make a commitment to participate in the live draft. (There are some exceptions, but most people don't do very well on autopick, so I definitely prefer that new managers draft live.)
Number two, make a commitment to fully participate whether you are in first place or last place. (This applies to the whole season. None of us quit in March because our team is in last place, we grind it out to preserve the integrity of the matchups over the last month or so.)
What does full participation mean? It means making sure that you maximize your daily lineups. (You can certainly elect to bench a goalie who's facing a tough matchup or who is in a slump - That's an acceptable strategic decision.) (It's possible to set your lineups on a once-a-week basis. Some managers are busy, so they set their lineups for the week on a Sunday night. I prefer that managers take a couple of minutes each day to set their lineup for that particular day, but it's not a strict requirement.) It also means that you make sure that you move IR-eligible players to your IR list and replace them with active players.
Number three - Take the game seriously. Don't trade away an All-Star for a bum who happens to be on your favorite real hockey team.
