General Message Board
We're a league with our own contract system and contract negotiator/calculator, 7 round prospect draft w. bonus picks for division winners, President's trophy winner and a couple other neat bonuses. It's a 20 team league with a bunch of very active, energetic GM's. We're gearing up for the off season frenzy of free agency and prospect draft.
These are some of the basics below. There is a lot more to the league and if you're interest is piqued shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I'll send you the link to the league and you can check it out in fuller view. Any questions or all else just ask =0).
1.1 Number of Teams
In its inaugural Season, the League will consist of 20 teams, in 5 Divisions of 4 teams each.
An expansion to include more teams is possible in following seasons.
1.2 Scoring System
This will be a Head-to-Head League, Category-based/Rotisserie Style, Single Win. If Fantrax does not manage to implement this scoring system until the start of the season, we will be using a Category-based/Fantasy Points style scoring system for the first season and switch to Rotisserie Style next season.
1.3 Scoring Categories
The Scoring Categories used for Goalies differ depending on the Scoring System in use:
• Shots on Goal
• Blocked Shots
• Fights (more is better for Enforcers, not counted for other Skaters)
• Faceoff - %
• Special Team Points & Game-Winning-Goals
You're able to change team names if you like to any of the other 10 available teams.
2012 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
2013 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
2014 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
2012 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
2013 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
2014 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Additionally, each team may offer contracts to two impending UFAs each Offseason.
3.3.1 Offering a new Contract
In order to do this, the GM has to post his offer on the League Board, including Cap Hit and Contract Duration.
There are two Cap Hit thresholds for determining if a RFA signs with his original team immediately or if he waits for better offers.
If the RFA or UFA accepts the offer, the new Contract goes into effect on July 1st.
3.3.2 Offer Sheets
Important: A GM MAY ONLY TRY TO SIGN A PLAYER TO AN OFFER SHEET IF HE HAS ENOUGH OWN PICKS TO SATISFY THE COMPENSATION REQUIREMENTS! PICKS ORIGINALLY OWNED BY OTHER TEAMS MAY NOT BE USED FOR COMPENSATION PURPOSES.
If the offer of the original team does not meet or exceed the automatic extension threshold, any other team may try to sign the RFA to an Offer Sheet during a time period of TWO WEEKS after the Qualifying offer was made or July 1st , whichever is later, by replying to the respective Qualifying Offer Thread with a better Contract. In our case, this means that the Offer Sheet’s Cap hit has to be at least 10% higher to be considered “better”. Restrictions for contract length are the same as the restrictions for Qualifying offers.
The RFA’s current GM then has ONE week to match the Offer Sheet.
If he does, the player will stay with his original team, if not, he will switch teams.
Cap Hit of the new Contract Draft Pick Compensation
$1,020,348 and below No compensation
$1,020,348 to $1,545,981 Third-round pick
$1,545,981 to $3,091,963 Second-round pick
$3,091,963 to $4,637,944 First- and third-round pick
$4,637,944 to $6,183,925 First-, second-, and third-round pick
$6,183,925 to $7,729,907 Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick
$7,729,907 and above Four first-round picks
A team may have two different players signed to offer sheets in the same compensation bracket at the same time provided they have the available draft picks in the upcoming drafts. For example, if a team signs two restricted free agents to contracts worth $3 million per season, they must have their own second round selection in the next two entry drafts. In addition, if a team does not have a pick in the next upcoming draft available for compensation, they may not make a contract offer in the certain range where that pick is needed for compensation. Teams may not use draft picks acquired in trades with other teams, but extra acquired draft picks can influence a team's decision to submit an offer sheet.
There are only 4 instances when a new franchise player can be named. This may only be done in the offseason.:
1) Your current franchise player retires. You can then name a new franchise player at a 10% caphit discount.
2) Your current franchise player starts playing in another league. You can then name a new franchise player at a 10% caphit discount.
3) An owner is replaced, in which case the new owner may designate a new franchise player at a 10% caphit discount.
4) You trade your franchise player. You can then name a new franchise player at a 5% caphit discount.
At this time, GM’s are also responsible for posting the Status (RFA or UFA) of their players at the end of their initial contracts in the applicable thread on the Message Board.
Players aged 27 or younger on July 1st of the year their contract expires are RFA’s while those older than 27 at the end of their contracts are UFA’s.
126.96.36.199 Amateur Players
Players may be dropped from a team’s Junior team without a penalty, by posting it on the Message Board.
This includes players that have just signed a professional contract with their NHL team but haven’t been added to a team’s Minor roster yet.
The Cap Floor is $43M.
All contracts of Active and Reserve Roster players count against the Salary Cap.
Contracts of players on Injury Reserve or the Minors Team do not count against the Salary Cap.
Fantrax will be set to not allow any transactions that would violate the Salary Cap.
Infractions against the Cap Floor will result in the loss of Prospect Draft Positions, as decided by the respective Committee. The minimum number of Draft Positions lost shall be 3.
During the Offseason, teams may exceed their Salary Cap by up to 10%, but have to be back below the regular Cap on Opening night of the new season.
The Salary Cap will be temporarily raised on Fantrax for that period.
3.2 Contract Duration
3.1.1 For Players picked up from Free Agency
The Rules for minimum and maximum Contract Duration are identical to the Rules used for Contract Extensions below and are based on the Free Agent’s new Salary (see Section 3.3.1). A Free Agents new Contract duration has to be posted on the Message Board.
3.1.2 For Prospects signed after the Prospect Draft or from Junior Team
Players signed from a team’s Junior team automatically start with contract details (Cap hit and length) identical to their real NHL Cap Hit and contract duration.
3.3 Contract Extensions
A GM may elect to offer a new contract to his RFAs, but he has to do so before June 24th of the year the contract expires.

1.4 Roster Sizes and Positions
Each team will have the following Roster Slots:
Active Roster (exactly 19 have to be active at all times)
• 3 Centers (3 minimum at all times)
• 3 Left Wings (3 minimum at all times)
• 3 Right Wings (3 minimum at all times)
• 3 Forwards (2 minimum at all times)
• 1 Enforcer (no minimum)
• 6 Defenders (5 minimum at all times)
• 1 Goalie
7 Round Non-Snaking Draft with order determined just like in the real NHL. Lottery among non-playoff teams, League Champion goes last, preceded by the divisional champions.
This draft will be done by Forum Post, not on Fantrax, since the drafted players start their Fantasy Hockey career in a teams Junior System on our Message Board.
188.8.131.52 Free Agent eligibility
All players contracted to an NHL club but left unclaimed during the Inaugural Draft, all restricted Free Agents that have neither received a Qualifying offer nor an Offer Sheet before July 1st and all unrestricted Free Agents are eligible to be claimed from the Free Agent Pool. Free Agents may be claimed for as long as the Dynasty League’s regular season is underway. Once the playoffs start, teams may ONLY sign a Free Agent as an emergency signing (technically, once our Playoffs start, Fantrax will be set to only allow FA pickups and drops with consent of a Commissioner).
If an undrafted and unsigned and therefore ineligible Free Agent player signs a contract with an NHL team at any time during the course of the season, he may immediately be picked up.
184.108.40.206 Method of acquisition
Free Agents are acquired by bidding for their services. The highest bidder receives the player and the bid amount will become that player’s new Cap hit.
The minimum bid a GM may place for a player is 500.000$. There is no maximum, except for common sense.
