My team was just eliminated in a tie, where I had a better regular season winning percentage and more regular season points than the team I tied. This one needs to be explained to me and it better be a good one.
I am sure that they will fix this by tonight, tomorrow at the latest. I am currently in the 5th place game when I should be in the semifinal, so I assume the opponent would just be switched. I would be pissed if they did nothing lol.
thanks man! now that Yahoo has admitted the error on their part, hopefully they fix it ASAP...and I also hope it doesn't affect the rest of this playoff week in terms of missing stats or anything else...I updated my roster for tonight as if I advanced, hopefully everyone else on here did too
Just heard back from Yahoo! ... here is the response:
I appreciate your inquiry in regard to playoff tiebreakers and apologize
for the confusion.
Currently there is an error in how playoff ties were broken for the just
completed week and we are working to correct the issue.
In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock is broken
using the following system:
1. Winning percentage against this opponent during the regular season.
2. Playoff seed.

the bigger question is has anyone heard back from yahoo. the commish of my league still hasnt. And the irony is the commish is the one that i was playing in my tie. and even he thinks i should of advanced

not only that, but if you check the playoff tiebreaker rules page, it was updated by Yahoo on Feb. 17th, 2010...they couldn't have changed it to something else within the past month...it's right there in black-and-white: "1st playoff tiebreaker is regular season winning % vs. your playoff opponent"...I had the better regular season win % so I should be advancing, there's no excuse for this
if someone hears back from Yahoo, please post it here...both me and the Commish of my league e-mailed Yahoo also, still haven't heard anything
As bad as I feel for you, I had to laugh at the "and it better be a good one". What exactly would you do? Unfortunately there's nothing you can do, especially as it's probably been decided correctly and you've just missed it.

i would think it was decided correctly. but yahoo themselves posted in there rules that the two tie breakers were
1. winning % against opponent
2. playoff seeding
so under those current rules alot of teams got screwed. however if yahoo came out and said "hey we changed it to x or y." then id have no problem if i lost under that rule.
are you sure it was a tie in playoffs? like they were forgetting to credit Miller with a win until the very last moment... if it was a tie, I would check your record against the opponent more carefully, I don't think Yahoo would make a mistake like that...

yeah I re-checked my matchup like five times today, we definitely tied 4-4 during the playoff week...and I went over the regular season schedule a few times too, I was 1-0-2 in the regular season vs. my playoff opponent...how is that not the higher win percentage?
I even have the current 2nd tiebreaker (higher seed) AND the old 1st tiebreaker (total goals)
huge mistake by Yahoo, there's no other explanation...I just e-mailed Yahoo, not sure what that's gonna do, but this is ridiculous
