For a player with previous history of such play he should have been suspended for the amount of time Campbell is out. I guarentee that if it was Campbell who hit Ovechkin from behind like that his suspension would have been worse.
Im from DC and Im fine with the suspension. the penalty may or may not have deemed a suspension, but Im not surprised that he got one. Some of you are saying that he 'only got 2 games because hes ovi'. But I say 'he got a suspension only because hes ovi'. I think the league is right to make an example out of him, and i think he thinks so too. The fact that Campbell is so injured makes this suspension fair, and honestly its good for the team to play without there more skilled players every now and then. 24 goals in 4 games ovi was suspended this year...my god. I hope Campbell gets another chance to play this year, and hope chicago fans dont think ovi did this on purpose...but I would pity anyone who gets him into a fight.
what about alfreddo's hit the other night on beauchemin???why are the refs trying to break up all the fights???what's going on with the nhl,...next theyre will be no hitting!!nhl is becoming a joke,...if they want no fighting and intensity in the game/no passion to win it all....,then they should just broadcast womens hockey...seriouslee
I'm a Blackhawks fan and was yelling about the hit when I first saw it. But after watching the replay 3000 times it was not a malicious hit. He shoved Campbell, his skate caught on the ice, and he took an unfortunate fall. There should have been a penalty, I still think it should have been 5 minutes. But as a repeat offender he was suspended. Being suspended the whole time Campbell is out is just retarded. 2 games was enough.

question should be not how many games to suspend but should be what to do about the repeat offender so
noone else is injured ? another 2 games is nothing compared
to 6-8 wks out so coaches should tell players play like Ovie
attempt to injure the opponents key players maybe
if your lucky u can injure the player and u will only get
2 games suspension sad sooooo sad
we will have another Ovech moment soon and it wont be pretty!!!
Exactly - Ovie should be out for as long as Campbell is out. Maybe he will not take cheapshots when he has to pay a hefty price then. He thinks he is a PreMadonna and can do what he wants. Maybe he needs to get his butt kicked and slammed into the boards every night as well.

Um.. he does get slammed every single night.. And he also dishes it out. He's no premadonna, he just goes after guys so they don't want to go after him. 4 games would have been appropriate since that's what Lapierre got for almost the exact same incident

why dont you call me an idiot!!!
months ago I cried and now here we are
again Ovech the great injuring players at will
condoned by the coach and Caps mgt and the
NHL incapable of doing the right thing and really
suspending the the real idiot here Ovech!!!
sad that anyone thinks thats the way the NHL
should be injuring players and excusing it by saying its the
way of the game!!!
that is soooo true if Ovech was the hurt party
then campbell would of been suspended for
hurting the socalled "best" player in the NHL
but if you say that you are deemed to be an idiot!!!
no ur correct Ovech should be out period
