If you look at it its not really ALL about the money..he left the canucks with 2-3 million in cap space..so by the trade deadline they could get another solid winger to add to the team..and if they add another winger i think it makes them a threat in the west..especially with luongo back and healthy the way he was playing before he got hurt.

Sundin is still a top centreman regardless how you might feel about him and he's going 2 make a huge impact in Vancouver. This guy has never had a bad season especially surrounded by crappy leaf players 4 so long not 2 mention what he did 4 sweden a couple years back now that he's going 2 play with some talented players this guy's going 2 explode on the scene you just wait and see.
I agree it was most obvious he was going to end up in BC, it was the best offer to begin with and there's no way NYR would have made cap space enough to add a top-line center for half a season that would be terrible management.

two things wrong with this.
1) Mats said he was in it for the cup, not the money.
2) Mats is not a top of the line center anymore.
The best offer in my mind would be for him to go to Detroit, San Jose, New York, or Pittsburgh for an amount way under what he is worth.
He will start slow, get some points, then burn out. Most likely. I can't wait to see him get thrown around by the grinders in the West.
possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read.
to all those who are bragging they are right after saying Sundin was going to sign in Vancouver before the season started... lol.
Canucks fans... what're you gonna do?
the point is stop trying to be a hero when u dont no whats really going on ... and ya how do u no that he would rather go the rangers, he never said that.
the canucks r a contender... its a combination of the money and the fact that with sundin they r a contender
haha, I think that the Canucks with Sundin, are now legitimate contenders.
If it was the money Sundin wanted, he woulda joined at the beginning of the year.
Vancouver is tied for 3rd in the West....are 9th in the league in goals for, and that was all before Sundin. Also, they have been winning games without Luongo who many say is the only reason they have been as good as they have.....well now what do the critics have to say.
Mats Sundin can make an impact on any team he plays for, Vancouver now has two of the best 1,2 centers in the league in Sundin and H. Sedin. I think they will be a team to be reconned with. It's a long season, and this team is abuot to get a lot better with Luongo coming back and Mats coming on.
He may have wanted to be a Ranger....but really....did HE ever say that, or was it all the radio stations and broadcaster. You all got sucked into media speculations. Looks like those guys did their jobs.
I'm just happy I have Demitra too, they're gonna be a good pair!
he wanted to be a ranger, but they couldn't afford him....no other teams were crappy enuff to have that much cap space...1 year at $10mil, what a joke....he'll be somewhere else next year for less
