General Message Board
To everyone who has a beef about missing or incorrect stats, read this first before complaining: (and read the rules)
In many roto or points only leagues, there may be limits to the number of starts you can have PER POSITION in your lineup. Basically, if you keep subbing in and out from your bench, you will go above your limit (if it's an 82 game max).
Go to your lineup, at the bottom left there will be a link that says 'Maximum Games'. It will tell you:
- how many games you have used for each position,
- the projection (if it's a 'plus' you risk losing points if you don't cut back your starts, if you are 'minus' then you are okay for now, and if is says that you are maxed out, YOU WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE POINTS FOR THAT POSITION.
- the number of games you are allowed for each position.
If you feel like you haven't received the correct stats, that is, it should have been a PPG or + 1 or assist or whatever, do not rely on yahoo's boxscore as official. It may change. Check NHL.com and/or go to 'Players' in your league and see the link at the top called 'stat corrections'. They will adjust overnight the following Sun/Mon.
IF YOU STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND:
Read the rules! That's why there is a Help section.
Apologies for the caps, and for posting on all three boards, but felt it needed to be done.
Great post!!! Our 10 team private league is made up of all newbies, and one of us realized the max game situation about 6 weeks into the season. It screwed things up for a bit cause many of us were high on the plus side. Someone mentioned in this post that yahoo does not do a good job of explaining. I disagree. I've reffered people to the page that states the rules, and they clearly explain it. But the page itself is not in your face like it should be. You gotta dig for the page.
we should designate the month of march, 'max month' or 'max games awareness month' or 'blame yahoo even though you don't understand how certain leagues work' month. Ah, it happens to alot of rookies. Next year you'll know better.

You may be on to something there, P Chaos.
I think Yahoo SHOULD post reminders to everyone in rotisserie pools about the Max Games Limit. Maybe a cartoon Puck with a word balloon would catch people's attention.
Only snag, is that some Private leagues can opt for no game limit restrictrions. But I've seen other Yahoo "tags" on the league or team page that had hints and other info how to play.
Well thanks for explaining that! I have tried to read the help section but it is not very user friendly. This is my first time playing fantasy hockey and it takes some getting used to the roto scoring system - even without the max game limit!
I am maxed on my center and RW position but good on my goalie and defender position so now I will switch my strategy.
Thanks for the info.
ha, it's true. a lot of first timers run into that trap of overplaying positions. i know i did. it's a real learning experience, especially when you fall from 1st place to 5th in the last 3 weeks of the season!
