  • Luongo vs. Nabokov

I'm in a Head to Head league. Last week before the playoffs.

San Jose is playing Vancouver Thursday (tomorrow) night.

Despite the fact that Luongo and Nabokov both got yanked in their respective games on Tuesday night, I'm pretty sure they'll both be starting against each other Thursday night.

So should I take a chance and bench one of them?

Or just start them both to get a win no matter what?

      What are the goalie categories?
      Wins... GAA... SV%... Shutouts

Who does your opponent have in net this week?
Rinne, Rask, Theodore & Halak... As of right now he is starting Rinne & Rask... But that could change...

      Are you currently beating them?
In the league... I'm 3rd place and he is 4th place
In the matchup... He's up 5-3

What do matchups look like for both of you?
2 wins for him... 0 for me
1.90 GAA for him... 7.10 for me
      .941 for him SV% ... 7.24 GAA for me
(Don't care about skater categories right now...)

How have both teams done since the Olympic break?
Nabokov has gone 3-3 in March (Sharks 3-4)
Luongo has gone 5-2 in March (Canucks 6-3)

Nabokov won the last game against the Canucks... and is 12-5 in his career against them

Luongo lost the last game against the Sharks... and is 5-9 in his career against them

What about home and away records?
      It's in Vancouver...
      Nabokov is 18-6 away
      Luongo is 23-8 at home

Do you see where I'm going with this?
Yes. This is everything I've already thought of, but didn't feel like typing out. I thought I could just get a quick answer. :)

Luongo has a better record at home and a better record since the Olympics... But Nabokov has a better record against the Canucks and in away games...

Vancouver has had a better record since the Olympics... But does that mean San Jose is due for a win?

I'm leaning towards starting them both just to get a win... I can't see my GAA & SV% getting any worse... A shutout is not very likely... But if I bench the one that gets a shutout, I won't be able to live with myself... haha

      So... What say you?
