I'm still somewhat confused about setting this up as "Summary/Expanded" & "Threaded/Message List". That may be the key in organizing posts under topics. You guts know a lot more about that stuff than I do. Anyway, here is my latest roster & 1st week lineup. Still watching the Detroit closer situation and Shelby Miller/Chris Archer cheap SP situation, etc. Dropped Lincecum for A.J. Griffin for now. If Lincecum shows he still has anything left I might reconsider. And I still don't have Stanton. My roster total of 42.92M is right on my neutral target of 42.94M.

We have fairly similar rosters, I'm almost done tinkering with my first one. I tailed you guys on Andrelton and Eaton. I'm also taking a flier on this Segura guy for now. Gonna keep an eye on him in ST.
I can't decide between The Shark or Matt Moore. I might end taking both, but I really don't think I have room for both. We have basically the same OF, but I'm really struggling with whether to keep Kemp. I've been reading up on him some. It sounds like he will be running less this year. A drop in SB alone wouldn't drive me away from him after what he did in 2011, but I guess the surgery he had on his shoulder this last offseason was the same surgery Adrian Gonzalez had. Gonzo hit 36 and 40 HR in freaking Petco Park, then injured his shoulder. He moved to Fenway with that short porch in right, and only managed 27 HR in 2011 and 18 between two teams last year. His doubles jumped by a ton though.....so did he lose just enough power not to clear the fences? Was the shoulder injury even the reason his HR dropped? Could be over analyzing it, but it's definitely something to watch with Kemp in ST.
I've had a major "do-over" on my team. Dropped back to 12 SPs and added a 9th outfielder. Dropped the following players: Madison Bumgarner, Kris Medlen, Sergio Romo, Robinson Cano, Brandon Phillips, Andrelton Simmons & Matt Kemp. Picked up the following players: Justin Verlander, Bruce Rondon, Ian Kinsler, Jason Kipnis, Jose Reyes, Giancarlo Stanton & Yoenis Cespedes.

Hey why did you delete your roster on the OG thread? Something #$%$ you?
As to your adds/drops...
I cut Andrelton as well.....have a couple of cheap guys that I am trying to make work.
Why ditch Bum and Medlen? Is it just to free up room for Verlander? I like Bum a lot, and think Medlen is gonna be a solid value.
There are too many dang pitchers that I want. Do you both carry a 4th closer on the bench? I've been struggling with that option.
Reyes is expensive, I'll admit. I'm trying to cover all the hitting categories, though. Simmons is still an unknown. I think you are fairly sure to get 100+ runs, 40+ SBs & around a .300 average from Reyes. And that is a great hitters' park. He might even hit 15 HRs. I love leadoff hitters. They can do so many different things. There aren't that many players who are reasonably sure to get 40 SBs....with 100 runs & a .300 average. Of course, it took a lot of maneuvering to come up with that extra 780K to make that switch...which concerns me. Basically, it came from replacing Romo with Rondon (300K) & replacing Kemp with Cespedes (460K). I had concerns with both Romo & Kemp. The Giants have switched closers about three times in the last couple of years, and we've talked about Kemp. I now have a bunch of outfielders (Harper, Cespedes, Heyward & Upton) who should give me something around 100-25-100-25-290 numbers.....with power numbers from Stanton & Bruce, and everything from Trout.
My cheap unknowns are now at 3rd base (Machado & Middlebrooks), to offset the cost of Cabrera.
My two cheap outfielders (Eaton & Marte...two more leadoff guys) are guys who I am beginning to think are "must have" players on your roster.
I think I have the 3 best catchers in the game. I was picking from 5 guys at 2nd base, and right now have old standbys Pedroia & Kinsler, along with the up & coming Kipnis (in a much-improved Cleveland lineup). The other two were Cano, of course, and Phillips...who I feel is going to have a really good year in Cincinnati. I kept going back & forth with Phillips, Kinsler & Kipnis for the two to go along with Pedroia after I decided to drop Cano. (And this could still change in the next three weeks.)
I have three cheap SPs & Darvish at an even one million. After Sale at 1080K, my other 7 SPs are 1240K & higher (Gio Gonzalez, Strasburg, Felix, Cain, Price, Kershaw & Verlander)....so I have plenty of quality at SP. And this roster checks in at 43.07M, which is under my neutral number of 43.08 (made higher by the cheaper closer, Rondon). Of course, if Rondon doesn't get the job, I will have to revamp everything.

I was shocked at the price tag they put on Reyes. Even if he makes the numbers you suggested he is too expensive. In 642 at bats last year he had 87 runs scored. That is a lot of at bats. The 40 SB is the high end, imo. He's older and has had hamstring issues so he is not going to run as much. He is going to a new team...sometimes thats good. He is the best SS right now. I just don't think his numbers warrant that kind of price tag. But hey, if you can afford him he will surely help your team.
Kipnis is another guy who I feel is a waste of money. He was great last year at 530k. He is over a mil this year, and his projections are not even as good as his last year's stats. He is never going to be a star player. He has a spot because he is a great infielder. He will always be average with the bat in his hands.
I am seriously thinking about taking a chance on Brandon Belt. For the first time he is not in a battle for opening roster or everyday player. He is a huge talent and this could be his breakout year. Of course you could say the same for Brown with Philly. Although, we can't take too many chances with the opening day roster.

I have 3 players that i really like. Archer, a pitcher for TB who is doubtful to make the rotation no matter how well he is pitching this spring. The other two will most likely earn a everyday job. Unfortunately, Fantrax has yet to add them to the players list. Sure hope they don't end up with that dreaded 750k price tag.
I have 10 teams in my league. I have yet to purchase my rookie league. Figured I would wait until my team was pretty much set. I guess I should do it soon to make sure of being in a different league. i need a reminder of everyone's league number.
I was thinking the same thing about the multiple thread thing....and I still get confused about how new posts are placed. I guess if you are on "threaded", the replys are under the post to which they replied...while if you are on "message list" you just get every post, with the most recent one at the top of the list. I think that is what I will do....and that's the way I was doing it on the other board, which was causing the problem Ace talked about, because we had several different threads. Also, these boards may be active, but I'm not sure the end result will be much different than the other board....because there are so many threads and I'm not sure that many people will bother with this particular one. One indication, I guess, will be if we start to get other posters chiming in....and I'm not at all sure that we will. Fantrax doesn't have anything like the number of players that CDM has, for example....or the free games at Yahoo. That's where all the thread activity will be in my opinion....and particularly with Yahoo's own games. We will find out in the next few weeks, but other than it being more inconvenient to follow the posts, I don't think that much will change.

Fantrax players have/do use these boards. I did a Fantrax search. I know that it is not really a high risk. Although if someone came across this thread they could silently watch all your moves for the season.
In light of all of this, what does everyone think about this idea: Abandon this link...with its buzzword "Fantrax" in the title....and move to a new thread with a title that does not alert people to Fantrax, nor, if possible, encourage anyone to even check it out? That would greatly lower whatever risk is there, don't you think? And it would be very easy to move to a new thread and forget this one. We could email our 4 to 6 people the link to the new thread title.....and just leave this thread alltogether. Ace, Jesse & I...or anyone of us...could come up with a "vanilla" thread title. Something like "Harvey's Wallbangers", "Boys of Summer"...or, really, anything....as long as it didn't mention Fantrax, Fantasy, or even some MLB team's name that might encourage fans of that team to check it out. In other words, we would want as boring a title as possible. Let me know what you think. Of course, if we did this we don't want to put the new thread title on this thread.....but pass it their private email.
Reyes is going to score a lot more runs leading off in that Toronto lineup than he did last year in that last-place Miami Marlins lineup. I agree with you that he is very expensive, but I think he could go something like 110-15-70-45-.300 ....and, to me, that's worth 1330K at the shortstop position. I don't see how you can say that is too expensive and have no problem with Cano's 1530K price. For comparison, I think those numbers...if he can produce them...are worth more than a 1530K Cano going 100-28-100-5-.310 at 2nd Base....particularly when there are more options at 2nd Base and Reyes is going to a stronger lineup in a better park while Cano is hitting in a weaker lineup than in the past. Those extra 40 SBs are huge. Kipnis is a bigger question mark. As I said, I went back & forth with him and Brandon Phillips....but I don't think Kipnis is as weak a hitting prospect as you do. I think he could go 90-15-75-25-.270 or so...which would be decent. He's going to be batting 3rd in a beefed up Indian lineup, too....behind Bourn & Cabrera for RBIs and ahead of Swisher & Santana for runs scored. I still might go back to Phillips, though. That would be an extra 160K.

So far, the only rookie league teams are Tan The Man in #1 and me in #3. When I signed up, you could only pick between 1 & 5. That's all they had in rookie last year: 5. They wound up with 12 leagues in gold.
I looked at Gyorko....but I was wanting him to be listed at 2nd base, and I found him at 3rd base....and I thought that 700Kwas too high. Anyway, I think I read where he is going to start the season in the minors..though I'm not completely sure about that. It said that he "signed a minor league contract", whatever that meant. We've got a San Diego guy here....maybe he knows.

I currently have Forsythe (SD) as one of my 2nd baseman. He is going to be a utility guy that should get plenty of at bats. Gyorko is 700k because he was not listed when Fantrax put out their salaries. I don't understand why they default back to that price when adding a player before the season even starts.

Now they evidently deleted my entire post with that link in it. I had posted the link to the register page for the OG boards and mentioned that that board would be almost like our old Yahoo board...only much more secure. Our Fantrax thread has already slipped to the 2nd page on the sports board, because only the two of us have posted on it. Almost nobody else over there is even going to pay any attention to it. We might get an occasional comment...but they will be few and far between. If it is a sincere one, we can respond....but if it happens to be a smart-aleck one (and you can get a few of those over there on occasion....particularly to me, because I have rubbed some of them the wrong way at times...LOL), we just ignore it. Finally, if we decide we don't like that situation, we can just log out and stop posting there. I've already stopped posting on everything over there except this one thread. If you decided to register, you can send me a PM (private message) with any questions you have about the site. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't ask for any personal information in the registration process. There may be a place for listing a referrer...which you could put bobknightfan or DiegoTiger. Anyway, I think that might work out well for us...as a vehicle for having our own more secure thread.
